My Favourite Things About Autumn. | Blogtober

Hey there and welcome to Blogtober Day 14. Every year I get so excited for autumn to roll around. Unlike any other season, I love almost everything that comes with this time of year so I thought I would share some of my favourite things about Autumn in this evenings post and I’d love to read all about yours in the comments below.

Scents:

My first favourite thing about Autumn is the scents; whether it be the spice scented candles, the nostalgic smell when carving pumpkins or nights by a log fire, they’re all such strong, warm and cosy scents. Lighting up a candle makes any room feel cosy, warm and homely at any time of the year, but especially during the colder months when it gets dark earlier and the festive season is on its way!

Autumn Leaves:

Next up we have the trees; more specifically the leaves. Towards the end of August you can start to notice the green leaves turning a beautiful orange colour and that’s when you know autumns coming and it’s only a matter of time until they all begin to fall. Autumn leaves are an array of colours including dark purple, red, yellow and orange which look just as stunning before they fall as they do on the ground; putting on some wellies, kicking them up as a kid or hearing the crunch under your feet, ugh I just love it.

Cosy nights in:

Nights by a log fire, hot chocolate in hand, Hocus Pocus on the TV and under the cosiest of blankets have to be my favourite nights and I would take them any day over a night out. Who’s with me on that one?

Hearty meals:

At the end of those really cold days where you need defrosting from the core, there’s not much else that will do that other than a hot bath and a good old hearty meal. Toad in the Hole, Stew, Casserole they all have that home comfort feel about them and a perfect for cold, dark evenings.

Chilly mornings:

I feel like I may have lost you all on this one and you may not agree so much, but hear me out. I find chilly mornings so relaxing because I grab my biggest dressing gown, some fluffy socks, grab a cuppa and pop on the telly before I need to start getting ready for the day. The birds aren’t up yet, my dogs still asleep on my bed and it’s so calm and still before the craziness of the world wakes up.

Scare Mazes:

I don’t do scare mazes anywhere near enough but going to Tulley’s Farm (in Sussex, England) is the highlight of October for me. Scare Mazes, Haunted Houses, Haunted Hay Rides, anything scary and I’m there. For obvious reasons Tulley’s Farm aren’t open as we know it this year, but they’re doing a drive-in cinema showing the likes of Us, Nightmare on Elm Steer and The Cabin in the Woods or for those who don’t like scary movies too much, there’s Grease, Mamma Mia and Hairspray. If you’re in the area, I would recommend looking in to it, I definitely will be!!

Fireworks/ Bonfire Night:

Writing about this one makes me feel so nostalgic back to nights of fireworks, sparklers, toasting marshmallows, apple bobbing; ohh to be a kid again!!

Makeup & Fashion:

My next favourite thing about the season is the makeup and fashion. Layering, knitwear, knee highs and big old’ scarves; vampy lips, warm smokey eyes and a bit of shimmer, what’s not to love?

Decorations:

To me, nothing is more festive than decoration your home (or just your bedroom) to help you get in the Halloween spirit or just to feel those seasonal vibes. An autumn wreath on the door, carved pumpkins on the front step, cute little ornaments or a trick or treat sign. It just makes your living space feel (I’m going to use this word again for the 103884 this post) cosy and homely.

Lead up to Christmas:

Being into the last quarter of the year only means one more thing; Christmas is insight. Christmas is one of those times that I think we all need at the end of the year (this year especially). Family time, Food, Mulled Wine and a couple of days to recoup, relax and reflect. Not long now guys and gals!

And those were my favourite things about Autumn. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, I really hope you enjoyed it. I’ll see you again tomorrow with a new post.

Autumn scents are my fave, I really love woodsy smells, they’re very comforting to me. Also, autumn colour palettes are the best!
