How To Create A Self-Care Package || Guest Post.

Self-care is such an important aspect and it is overlooked far too often. Looking after yourself has a massive effect on your day to day life and therefore should be taken seriously. Many people are unsure of what to do to look after themselves. So, I thought I would put together a little something to help those of you out!

Creating a self-care package is an excellent way to work on looking after yourself. It means you can personalise it to how you want it. Here are 10 things you can include in your self-care package. You can also learn how to practise self-care. The first thing you need to do is find a box big enough to put all of your little bits in! You can decorate the box how you like or just leave it plain.

Face Masks:

Using a face mask is a great way to unwind and feel fresh again. Especially if you have had a busy/ hard day at work. Making sure you have that work-life balance is so important and learning how to look after yourself can help that. You can buy face masks from as little as 50p in places like Primark and Superdrug and I am sure Amazon will have plenty of options.

DVDs/ Netflix Ideas:

I normally have DVDs in my package, but I know that many people are moving away from these due to services like Netflix and Disney Plus. So an alternative to DVDs is to come up with a Netflix list of all the shows you want to watch so when you have some downtime you can chill  out and make your way through the list. Its also very satisfying being able to go through a list and tick things off.

Journal:

A journal is an amazing way to unwind and write down all your thoughts and feeling whether you’ve had a good or bad day. They can be used for so many things. The good thing is you can design them however you like meaning if your creative, you can really spend some time working on your journal and making it look just the way you want it.

Some journal ideas that you could write about:

  • Long- and short-term goals
  • What you are grateful for
  • Things you have learnt
  • Memories
  • Affirmations
  • Any routines you have
  • Your to-do lists

Journals are a great way to plan and feel relaxed that you have some sort of plan. One of my favourite ways to practise self-care is to take breaks from the outside world and take time to myself. I love disconnecting from my phone and getting stuck in my own thoughts. A journal is such an amazing way to do all of this!

Skincare products:

These skincare products can include body lotions and scrubs, along with face products so that you can look after your whole body. This is something that I normally slack on, so having it all in one box really helps. Taking care of yourself can help relax you and give you a bresk from everything that’s going on around you.

Hot water bottle:

Hot water bottles can bring great comfort. You can use them wherever you like. Whether you are watching a film or doing a bit of writing, they can really help you.

Nail polish:

I don’t know about you, but when I paint my nails and they are all finished, I feel so much better. Having scruffy nails is something that I hate. So being able to do them all nicely makes me feel 10x better and more put together. You don’t always have to get your nails done by a professional to feel good! Just file them down and get a bit of colour on there to neaten the up.

Favourite snacks:

This is such an important one for me! I feel so much better when I eat some of my favourite foods. I absolutely love birthday cake Oreos; I can eat the whole packet and more. You have to remember that its okay to overindulge at times when you want to. Having a little snack of something you love can really brighten your mood.

TIP: Remember if you’re putting chocolate in there make sure its not going to melt! That’s not fun.

Favourite book:

Reading is another great way to wind down. You do not even have to spend any money if you can access a library near you. There are plenty of amazing books to get your nose into. Sometimes reading a book is all it takes to forget about all your problems for a minute and read about a different story. It helps take you off your phone and social media which is sometimes what causes you to feel down in the first place.

Fluffy socks:

Fluffy socks are a life saver. They are a great way to feel all cosy when your watching a film. So grab a pair and put them in the box.

Bath bombs:

Last but not least, bath bombs. Taking a long bath is just what you need at the end of the day, along with a lovely bath bomb to go with it. A nice hot bath can help relax your muscles and it gives you time away from everyone else.

So that wraps up some ideas that you can include in your little self-care package box. I think putting everything you love into one box is a great thing to do as you know exactly where to go when your in need of some relaxation and cheering up.
