Late to the Party Reviews: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara!

Reviews seem to be very much enjoyed by my readers, so I thought I would start a little series reviewing those OG Beauty YouTuber products that have been highly raved about for a while, but I haven’t tried yet. So, here we have the first part to the Late to the Party Reviews, where I will be sharing my thoughts on the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

I had this mascara on my wish list for god knows how long before I was kindly gifted it for the Christmas just gone. But as you can see I’m only just getting round to using it. I thought that as it has been such a hyped about product in the beauty community for so long, that I would share my thoughts on it. And if you’re thinking of trying it out, you can find out from me whether I think it’s worth it or not. Let’s see my thoughts.

So, what is this product said to be?

”A mascara so amazing, It’s Better Than Sex! This formula thickens, lengthens, and curls after just one coat for the most luscious, dramatic, and volumized lashes possible. The #1-selling prestige mascara in America, Better Than Sex, gives you mind-blowing lashes, every time! The mascara features an hourglass brush and a collagen-enriched formula to create thick, curled lashes.” Taken from the boots.com.

I’m such a big fan of pretty packaging as well as baby pink and this has exactly that. It feels weighty, good quality and luxury, which is definitely something you want when you’re paying for a high end product. The outer packaging is pink and gold which shows an hour glass figure, just like the want. Fun fact, the founder of Too Faced Cosmetics, Jerrod Blandino, found his inspiration for the mascara wand from Marilyn Monroe’s curves.

On application I noticed such a drastic difference in my lashes after one or two strokes. The wand is an hourglass shape which makes it easy to coat every lash and give it some volume, whilst also giving it a little bit of a curl and didn’t clump at all. It definitely accentuated my fairly long natural lashes and finished my makeup look off nicely. This wand is particularly great for the top lashes, however the lower lashes can be a bit of a task to apply but if you’re slow and careful it makes them look great. One little downer for me is that it transfers on to my under eyes throughout the day, which I had to keep wiping away. However, once I’ve finished this one, I would look into getting the waterproof Better Than Sex mascara to see if this would work better for me.

A cheeky little added extra that I love about this mascara is that it has added peptides which helps to condition the lashes, which just sounds great if you ask me!

It is a little bit more of a pricey mascara as it retails at £22 but I do love the formula, the wand and dramatic volume it gives the lashes. If it lasts well and if the waterproof version works better for me then I would definitely repurchase. Some of the best dupes that I have personally tried would be the L’Oreal Unlimited Mascara and the L’Oreal Miss Baby Roll Mascara, which are both under £11.

Overall I’m very pleased with the mascara. I think it’s great and does exactly what it says on the tin. Aside from the couple of negatives … because what product isn’t going to have at least one? I love the formula, how well it applies, the fact that it’s vegan is always a plus and the wand is another thing that really draws me to a mascara … this one did not disappoint. I would personally say that this mascara would be best for those with naturally long lashes, as I think you’ll get the best pay off that way. I wouldn’t say that it’s unlike any other product I’ve used in the past, or that there aren’t great dupes or better alternatives but I think if you’re able to spend that bit more on a product, then it’s a great product to have in your collection and it deffo trumps all the mascara I currently have in mine. It works well for me and as I said, the BTS waterproof one may work that bit better and if it does I can see myself having a new all time favourite mascara.

And those were more thoughts on ‘America’s #1 Mascara’. I really hope you enjoyed this post, if you did please share it for me or pin it on Pinterest it would mean a lot to me. Check out my previous post here.

What are you thinking about this mascara then? Have you tried it? Let me know in the comments below.

I hate mascara. I love the way it looks on others but I can never ever seem to find mascara that doensn’t clump, stick, transfer to under my eyes, etc. regardless if it is waterproof, says it won’t clump or stick together. I so badly want to find one that works for me. I might have to see if I can try this one. Thanks for the review!
