New Years GRWM 2022 || Hair, Makeup + Outfit || AD.

That time of year is upon us again, where we’re wrapping up the end one year and planning, to start a new one. 2023, would you believe it? That weird phase between Christmas and NY where you don’t know what day it is, we’re not quite ready to go back to eating normal food and Christmas is over for another year; or in other words, Chrimbo Limbo.

For the first time since I started my blog, (nearly 6 years ago, may I add?!!!) I haven’t taken part in Blogmas. This year hasn’t been so much about my blog, like it has been in previous years. I’ve taken a step back, worked out where and what I want to be doing, soaked up some free time and just had some fun this year; and that’s okay! I still wanted to get involved in the festive action though, so be sure to check out my Christmas + New Year Partywear Picks post, if you’re in need of some bits!

Fear not, the festive fun isn’t over and done with just yet, we still have NY celebrations to attend, whether you’re staying home and chilling by fire or heading out for a night in town or even heading to bed before midnight, NYE is a time to reflect and get ready to make lots more memories for the next. For today’s post, I thought I would share a NYE get ready with me, a chance for me to get my glam on, try on some potential outfits and decide what I’m going to wear this year. So, before I ramble on any further, let’s get into the post; hopefully you can help me make my decision.

First up: Skincare. No great makeup look starts without a good base. The main part of my skincare routine is the same as it’s been for a long time now, however a couple of new products have creeped in over the recent months, which I will share with you today. The eye cream I have been reaching for is the Fenty Flash Nap. This is super hydrating, light weight and has a gel like consistency which soaks deep into the skin. It also comes with a under eye roller which is refreshing and helps say bye-bye to those dark circles; a perfect tool to use first thing in the morning as it’s old, takes down the puffy morning eyes and sets you up for the day, without that tired look.

For me, hydration is key, so I’ve been loving the Skin+Me Daily Doser. I’m sure you’ve heard many influencers talking about this recently, and yes,  I got sucked into an ad (!!!). I answered a few of the q’s on their website and bam, a personalised skin treatment was on my doorstep ready to treat my skin with exactly what it needs. It’s super lightweight, refreshing and hydrating; and boy, does my skin need it with the weather we’ve been having lately. Oh and, can’t forget the SPF, even if it is freezing outside, to finish the skincare.

Now all the skin is prepped, it’s time to prime. I’m still reaching for my trusty Ole Henrikson Banana Bright Primer. I just haven’t found another that works so well, not only for my skin, but for the makeup too. I must admit for a while I wasn’t much of a fan of this Bobbi Brown Intensive Serum Foundation. I don’t know if it was the skincare I was using or if it just didn’t work with my skin, but it used to just crumble on the skin and not blend in. If I’m using this, I have to make sure I properly cleanse and exfoliate, as well as not use skincare products that are too thick and heavy. When this foundation works, my god it works. Due to being a serum consistency, it’s very light weight, hydrating and gives a nice fresh, quite natural but buildable coverage; AND its SPF 40, what a win! I went onto to conceal with the EX1 Invisiwear Concealer and set it all with the good old Laura Mercier Loose Powder. This concealer and powder combo just works so well together, no flash back mary situ, no creasing or clinging to dry patches; love it.

I’d usually reach for my fave NARS Cali Contour Palette, but recently I’ve been reaching for the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer again . I just love how warm, blend-able and hydrating it is. I had that lil panic where the bronzer looked a little too orangey, so I added a little of the Milani Blush in Luminoso and that finishes the skin.

I’ve been keeping it a lot more natural with the brows as of recent. I love the brushed up, set in place, do not move brows, so the Revolution Rehab Soap and Care Styler has been a go to. I grab a spoolie, sometimes I wet the product, sometimes I don’t, then I brush the brows up. I will then set that in place with a dark coloured brow gel; usually Benefit Gimmie Brow in 4. As quick as that, you’re done.

I’m not gonna lie guys, I was going to do a full face, super glam look for this post, but tbh with you, I will probably stick to my everyday makeup routine; I’ll maybe spice it up with some highlight and body shimmer, as well as bronze up the kids but aside from that, i reckon that’ll be it. So, after finishing the brows, I just popped on some of my 17. Another Level Volume Brown Mascara.
For lips, I was umm-ing and ahh-ing on a red but, I reached for MACs Honeylove for the first time in a long time and I forgot just how much I love it; it finishes off any look just so nicely. I didn’t even have to use a liner, quick n easy and super creamy and comfortable on the lips.

Moving onto the hair next. This is the bit I was excited for. I love the glam, but I just couldn’t wait to finally use my new straighteners. I have been saying to myself, probably since last Black Friday, that I needed some new straighteners, but these ones came back in the sales again this year, so I grabbed ‘em. My previous pair of Babylon Straighteners have been going strong for nearly 10 years, I’m vvvv impressed.

I decided to go for some loose beach style curls; you know the no effort look, that actually takes effort!  For someone who never really does anything to her hair, this is me making a real effort; even if it is minimal.

To finish off, it’s time for the outfits. Probably the hardest part of any time I’m getting ready. Like I have clothes, but I have no clothes to wear for certain occasions, know what I mean? I did a lil Femmeluxe haul to give my some ideas, see what I like and what makes me not only look good, but feel good too. I’m not sure what vibe I’m going for, whether it be super glam, a lil casual or a pop of colour moment, but I think these 4 options will suit whatever vibe and occasion I’m going for this NYE, even if I still don’t know what my plans are for definite.

First up is the Brown Belted One Shoulder Jumpsuit – Evelyn. I think this jumpsuit speaks for itself; how stunning. I have been obsessed with chocolate coloured clothing these last few months, it’s perfect for this time of year. This jumpsuit is so soft, stretchy, comfortable and ever so flattering on.

Next up we have the Cream Strappy Silk Bodycon Dress. Now, I do love this on, it does hug the figure in all the right places, but it is quite see through, so I’m not too sure if this’ll be a contender or not. It is a really pretty dress though, may just have to work the knicker situation out haha!!

The Sky Blue Slinky Front Tie Two Piece Set was the item I was most excited about. You’ve always gotta choose something more comfy, just in case I decide to stay in and chill by the fire. Again, this is very see through. I love the style of it and how comfortable / soft it is to wear, but at it’s see through, it’s very much an in house outfit! Also, I tie this differently to the picture on the site, but I think it looks good either way.

Lastly, is the Ivory Off The Shoulder Long Sleeve Top, is a stunning piece and I just love the way it looks on. I would just say that it is very tricky to put on, you do need help to zip the back up and it does ride up, so it will take a lot of moving it around and putting it back into place, so I don’t know if it’ll get a little annoying.

Now all the glam, hair and outfit ideas are done, all that’s left for me to say is, thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, I hope you enjoyed the read. I hope you all have a lovely NYE, however you’re celebrating. Here’s to a happy and healthy 2023; and I’ll see you all in the new year.

“flash back Mary situ” haha 😂 Ahh I’m so glad to hear you’re finally enjoying the Bobbi Brown foundation! That was an investment and a half that one 😂 remember the lady in Boots on the till telling us off for how spendy on makeup we were haha.

Join the club! My Revlon straighteners have been going for 11 years now! 😳 I remember when I got them seeing them on the telly first advertised as this genius new product because you can adapt the size of the barrel on it to do different curls.

Oh my goodness yes, nothing with hair is no effort! Agreed!

Jesus Lord above holy moly that jumpsuit on you looks an absolute dream Luci!!

Here’s to a 2023 with a whole lot more adventures together lovely and a whole lot more of seeing you on the blog! Can’t wait to see what 2023 brings! 😄
