My Christmas Watch List. | Blogmas

I can’t believe we’re already half way through Blogmas; it’s just going too fast. For today’s post I will be sharing all those TV shows and Films on my Christmas watch list. I’m a sucker for a good ol’ Christmas film or Christmas Special and this list is full of just that, whether they’re films I watch growing up,  which make me feel nostalgic, or those new ones that are a bit of a guilty pleasure. You’ll see from this list that I love a good cheesy Netflix Original. Americans go above and beyond for each and every holiday, putting us Brits to shame really, and a lot of these films prove that, making these films even more magical. So, let’s see my watch list.

Gavin & Stacey Christmas Specials –

Up first we have my all time favourite programme to sit down and watch all year round, but especially over Christmas and that is Gavin and Stacey. Gavin and Stacey is one of those Christmas specials that I watch god knows how many times every single year. It’s such a classic and is always a guarantee to make me feel more festive and get into the Christmas spirit; AND even better this year because there’s the new Christmas special from last year to watch as well! There’s also been a few rumors that there may be some more episodes coming our way soon. I hope this rumor is true as it may save 2020 and give us something to look forward to … whenever that may be.

Holidate –

If you haven’t already heard of Holidate, it’s one of Netflix’s new originals that was released at the end of October. It isn’t necessarily Christmassy all the way though but it follows two ‘strangers’ that become each other’s dates for every holiday throughout the year to keep their parents of their backs about each of their relationship status. I know lots of people have described this film as too cheesy, but I personally think it’s the perfect amount of cheese; like a good ol’ guilty pleasure chick flick with all the festivities you could possibly want. From Valentines to Easter, from Thanksgiving to Christmas and all the other little ones in between. It’s definitely worth the watch!

Bad Moms: A Bad Moms Christmas –

The next programme on my watch list this month is the Bad Moms at Christmas, which is the sequel to Bad Moms. I had heard of the first film before seeing this one but I just never got round to watching it and I thought it wouldn’t be my cup of tea, but it’s crazy what you can find when there’s nothing else on and you can’t find any other option on Netflix. The film follows three moms with young children, whose own mothers show up for Christmas; as you can imagine, things don’t go too smoothly. I think it’s particularly good as we can all relate to at least one of the daughters. As it was only this time last year that I discovered Bad Moms at Christmas and having only watched it once, I’m very excited to re-watch it this month.

The Holiday –

Another absolute classic that I can’t go a Christmas without watching is The Holiday. If you’re not familiar with this film, it’s a mid 10’s rom com, featuring the likes of Kate Winslett, Cameron Diaz and Jude Law. Not to be too much of a spoiler, but KW plays Iris who is a British Journalist and CD plays Amanda whose a successful business owner from the U.S and they decide, after a rocky few months in their love lives, that they need to get away. They both end up agreeing to swap homes for the Christmas period. There are many films that no matter how much you love them, they can get a bit old and you can’t sit through the movie anymore times, but this one has a story line that has you hooked each and every time. My desire to do a house swap with someone outside of the UK does get bigger every year after watching it though.

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York –

I went to New York, for the first time, back in February and just after I got back, when I was ill in bed for almost two weeks, I had lots of spare time to watch films on telly and Home Alone 2 was on. It gave me all those festive feels (even long after Christmas) and being able to recognise places I’d been was so nice. Although the first Home Alone movie has always be my fave as it’s the original, this one is slowly, but surely, overtaking it. As much as I’ve been tempted to watch this since September came around, I’ve held off long enough now and I’m excited to get watching it and get all those feels once again!

Miracle on 34th Street –

The last movie on my Christmas watch list is Miracle on 34th Street (the1994 version) which, unsurprisingly, is also set in New York; there’s just something about New York at Christmas time it’s the stuff that dreams are made of. Even though this film was released way back in the early 90’s, I still haven’t seen it even though I make a mental note to watch it every year. It just never ends up happening. If you’re like me, have been living under a rock and are one of the few that have never seen this film, it’s basically set between Thanksgiving and Christmas Day and mainly revolves around a department store Santa, who claims he’s the real deal. Although I’m older now and the magical element of Christmas is no longer there, I bringing that feeling back to life, no matter how old I get.

And those are the movies and programmes I’ll be watching over the next couple of weeks. I don’t usually get much time to watch much Christmas telly due to working throughout Christmas and New Year for the last 3/4 years and only getting Christmas Day off so, you can bet I’m going to be making the most of it this year! I hope you all are too, to bring a bit of light at the end of this strange year. What Films are you watching at the moment? Have you seen any of the ones in my list? Let me know in the comments below and I will see you tomorrow with a new post!
