Ace The Festive Red Lip This Year, Without Breaking The Bank. | Blogmas

When I think of the ultimate festive makeup look the first things that come to mind are the big ol’ lashes, the red lip and a hell of a lot of glitter that seems to linger well into January. There are so many ICONIC red lipsticks out there that everyone goes crazy for every year; whether that be MAC’s Ruby Woo, Kylie’s Mary Jo K or Charlotte Tilburys So Red but these aren’t very budget-friendly and if you hardly ever wear a red lip, it can seem like a waste of money to buy a high-end one. This is why I thought I would share 3 of the red lips that you can rock this Christmas, without breaking the bank.

Sleek Matte Me Metallic | Electroplated Nude:

First up is the Sleek Matte Me Metallic Liquid Lip in Electroplated Nude and I know you’re probably thinking “I thought this post was about red lipsticks” and you’d be right, but this is a metallic nude with red reflects in it. I’m such a nude lip gal so this lipstick gives me the option to still go for my beloved nude but with a festive twist. It’s really pigmented, applies really smoothly and, I left it on to see how long it would last, and 5 hours later it’s still holding on strong but it’s not starting to wear off.  If you’re thinking a day or nights wear, you’d probably only have to reapply once; even when eating or drinking. This one does dry down completely matte and at times I did find it a bit drying (especially with it being winter and lips being dryer anyway) but it didn’t get the cracked look init which is a bonus. I’m so pleased with this lip colour considering metallic lipsticks are the ones I always dismiss and don’t use or try and if you do the same, I would highly recommend one out.

Revlon Ultra Matte Lip Mousse | 100 Degrees:

If you’re looking for more of a matte lip, without the extra sparkle and shine, then this is the one for you. As much as I love seeing others wearing wicked lips colours, I’m always about a plain matte, basic lip when it comes down to it. You just cannot go wrong with a matte red, particularly at Christmas; because if you’re anything like me, you won’t want to wear your everyday nude lip, you want to liven it up a little bit. I’ve always eyed up the Revlon Matte Lips, especially when I went through a stage of being obsessed with them and having them in every colour, so when I got one of these in the Boots free gift for Black Friday, you can just imagine how thrilled I was to finally try it.

The shade itself is more of a dark pinky red, that has a super creamy matte finish. Because it is so creamy it doesn’t dry down completely so I would say it has more of a suede finish; very comparable to the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream. I know a lot of matte lip lovers won’t be too much of a fan that it doesn’t completely dry down, but I think its a positive thing because it doesn’t dry out your lips and make them look crusty after a while; we all know that’s not cute. It’s not overly pigmented, but it is buildable, which makes it really good for those that want it more sheer.

Rimmel Provocalips | Kiss Me You Fool:

The last lip I wanted to share with you all today is the Rimmel Provocalips 16hr Kiss Proof Lip Colour is Kiss Me You Fool which the brightest red out of my picks. It’s double sided so you can pop on the lip colour itself and it will stay matte or you can pop on step 2 which is their lock & shine gloss which will give the ultimate shine and a slight glossy, creamy finish; so you can switch it up. It does come of very pigmented with one swipe of the product, so if you like more of a sheer lip colour, this may not be for you. It’s very comparable to Ruby Woo, just a little bit brighter. I’ve had this for a good couple of years now and it never lets me down; it looks amazing on and lasts well on the lips too!!l

So, which one of these lipsticks will you be rocking for Christmas drinks or around the Christmas table this year? I’m deffo more of a matte girl but the Metallic lip is converting me; Sleek always outdo themselves with their lip products. I really hope you enjoyed this post and I will see you tomorrow with a new one.
