Three Halloween Eye Looks to Try Before October Ends. | Blogtober

Half makeup look, with pouted lips, showing blown out Pumpkin of My Eye Halloween eye makeup look, wearable for your everyday makeup.

A very happy Halloween greeting to your spooky searching, beauty loving self! My name is Ellie, blogger of Ellie Bows & Sparkles. Over on my small corner of the internet I share all things beauty, fashion, food and jolly bits of lifestyle (with the occasional heart to heart post too!). I began my blog out of a passion for reading old school beauty blogs and enjoying beauty YouTubers back in 2013, on the search to cure and mask my new found, flourishing friend ACNE. Through my dabbling in blogs and YouTube in 2013 and 2014 I fell head over heels with all things YouTubers, beauty product reviews and all the other fun things that came with this world too – vlogs, flatlays and OOTDs, the list goes on! With my sheer joy for this new little world I had stumbled upon and all the help I had found for my acne, I had a burning desire to share what I loved and what might help others with acne too and thus began my blog Ellie Bows & Sparkles. Six years on it’s been a magical ride of sharing all these things that I love on my blog and it has taken me on many treasured adventures down the blogging rabbit hole! After a small hiatus I have recently relaunched my beloved blog, with a beautiful new personalised design, and I’m looking forward to excitingly blogging old-school style for many more years to come!

If you’d like to learn more about the story behind Why I Started Blogging (it’s full of good ol’ throwbacks you’ll be sure to want to reminisce with) hop on over to my post, Why I Started Blogging | My Everlasting Love for Blogging. As part of the blog re-launch I produced a three-post series so my visitors could get to know a little more about me and see if my blog was just their cup of tea. If you fancy a nosey, the other posts in the series include, Ellie Bows & Sparkles is Back! | The Blog and All That it’s About and Get to Know Me | So, Who’s Ellie?. Back to the matter at hand however….

Halloween!

Cherishing all things seasonal is something I have always had fond memories in doing and, paired with my love for beauty, adding a sprinkle of seasonal touches to my everyday makeup is something I have enjoyed for many years. As quite the novice when it comes to all things makeup and beauty, I’ve often found my imagination grows greater than my abilities. Despite this I never let it stop me from enjoying my love for makeup and its endless creativity and aim to make everything as easy as can be to do. Again, being not so dab handed at being my own personal everyday makeup artist making makeup and beauty as easy as can be in something I focus on greatly throughout my blog.

There’s a whole plethora of us sat out their crying over a winged liner and misbehaving foundation and if there’s a will and a way I can do it I darn tootin’ want to share it with the rest of the world too!

Coming to the end of this unusual October (hasn’t it has flown so quickly!?) I thought it would be fun to share three Halloween eye makeup looks we can festiviate our beauty loving selves with and enjoy, perfect to incorporate into your everyday makeup routine for the last three days of October. Some of the looks are a little more out there than others but the whole idea behind my inspiration was to just have fun and add a little touch of Halloween to my everyday makeup look. Perfect for masking up, all the creativity is on the eyes. Whether you’re going all out for a virtual spooktacular celebration with you best plethora of Halloween eye shadow or are just looking for some Halloween makeup ideas to add to your everyday ensemble look no further (in other words, keep scrolling!)…

Kitten Flicks eye liner everyday Halloween eye makeup look, with eyeliner elongated to inner corner to create feline-like effect.

Kitten Flicks

For this there’s no need to fret with eye shadow blending, it’s all in the liner! I must admit I did find this one a little harder than I envisioned. I honestly thought I’d struggle more with the looks that focused on blending rather than a simple flick of the hand :’D (sarcasm of course).

Eyeliner, AAAAAAAAA!

I kept everything plain on the lid, prepping with eye shadow primer for security and covering with a light touch of foundation and translucent powder to set. I’d recommend completing the eyes and outer wing first. Base can always kindly compensate for mistakes!

Ensuring I extended my liner all the way across my lid, thinning out closer to the inner corner (a light hand is key), enabled me to easily join up my inner corner flick. To obtain some kind of kitty-like flick I simply started small, with a light hand, and followed the natural guide of my tear duct, very gently elongating each with a tickling touch. Don’t feel disheartened if things don’t go so right, it took me a good few cotton pads and trial and error to achieve! Remember, it’s a touch off Halloween to your everyday makeup, a little asymmetry adds to the mystery ;D .

Products used:

  • Peaches & Cream Eye shadow Primer
  • Soap & Glory Supercat Liquid Black Eyeliner Pen

Woodland creature inspired Woodland Wandering Halloween eye makeup look, with rich, warm brown shades, elongated past inner corner for deer-like effect.

Woodland Wondering

Thinking a little outside the box for an every makeup appropriate Halloween eye shadow look I stumbled across the idea of a woodland creature inspired Halloween eye shadow look. Everyday and every way Autumnally appropriate but with a hint of Halloween. This was a look all in the blending however keeping things easy peasy! An all matte look. I simply started with my lightest shade blended lightly and roughly from the crease outwards, with my largest fluffy brush, followed by my darker shade, on a smaller crease brush, from the crease but not so far outwards. Starting all crease shades in the outer corner I honed in on carving and blowing out the outer V, following with circular blending motions inward and eventually upward and outward, creating a wider triangle gradually.

To complete the eyeshadow look I packed my darkest matte shade onto the lid, a little higher than my visible crease (hooded eye probs – there’s another novice makeup dilemma!). Finished by blending the edges every so lightly into my crease for a few minuscule seconds, with my smaller crease brush, for a smooth transition.

Tones and shades I focused on were warm orange-y browns, resemblant of a wee little enchanted woodland deer. I lightly dragged my lid shade and lid shade only gently to and above my inner corner, edging towards my nose, again to create a deer-like effect. To tie the eyeshadow look together, with the same technique that I used in my crease, I blended my lightest crease shade loosely under my lower lash line followed by the darker shade tighter to the lashes with a smaller pencil brush. To keep it true to a Halloween eye makeup look I only added my shadow to the outer third of my lower lash line, again to keep in tune with the deer-like look.

Products used:

  • Peaches & Cream Eyeshadow Primer
  • Peaches & Cream Maple single eyeshadow
  • Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 1 (5th shade in)
  • Makeup Revolution #revolutioneyes palette – previous Makeup Revolution advent calendar product (11th shade)

Pumpkin of My Eye easy everyday Halloween eye makeup look, with blown out orange-toned crease, warm orange-y water line, rounded blending and a touch of gold sparkle to centre of the lid.

Pumpkin of My Eye

And to finish, the sweetest of ‘em all… Pumpkins! If it ain’t in a drink we’ll have them just about anywhere in our house and rightly so with their cute, plump happy creations and cosy candle glow. It wouldn’t be Halloween without a touch of pumpkin sprinkles and spice so this Halloween eye shadow look is all things pumpkin and pumpkin again. I used my warmest, most magnificent golden shades to create a pumpkin clouded crease and shimmery enchanting lid. Using the same techniques in the crease that I used for the Woodland Wondering Look, I started with my lightest orange shade blown out, to my darkest warm tan/ brown shade tighter in the crease, focusing on a rounder outer V this time.

For the lid, let’s just say I was spoilt for choice in my collection of golden shades (I am now quite aware of my somewhat addiction to all shades of gold eye shadow after laying them all out across my dressing table as one!). To indulge to the fullest in this Halloween eyeshadow look I started with the lightest golden shade on my inner lid, followed by my darker shade to the central lid and then darkest to the outer lid. As with each of these eyeshadow looks any of the eyeshadows can be interchanged with the eyeshadows you have in your collection.

Again, I used the same techniques for the lower lash line, blowing things out a little further into the lash line to curate a more rounded look. Just to add a little more decadence to the already pumpkin goodness of this Halloween everyday eyeshadow look I also decided to top the cherry on the cake by adding a touch of gold glitter to the centre of my lids. The perfect little pop of perdazzle to make your everyday makeup look that little bit more special for spooky season.

Products used:

  • Peaches & Cream Eyeshadow Primer
  • Kiko single Infinity Eyeshadow 205
  • Makeup Revolution Flawless Matte Eyeshadow Palette (3rd row, 5 across)
  • Makeup Revolution Flawless Matte Eyeshadow Palette (4th row, 4 across)
  • Collection Eye Uncovered Nude Bronze Palette Ochre
  • Seventeen (who remembers Seventeen!?) Easy On The Eye Birthday Suit (4 Radiant Gold)
  • Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette (Pure Ganache)

For the rest of my face in this post I wanted to keep things as simple as I could as more than likely you’ll be wearing a seasonally appropriate face mask with the look. Hence no hazardous wandering bold lips and all the attention on the eyes. Here’s the other products I used…

  • Makeup Revolution Brow Pomade (Medium Brown)
  • Zao Refillable Aloe Vera Mascara
  • The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer
  • Elf Mix to Match Adjuster (palest shade ? white)
  • Elf Flawless Finish Foundation (Porcelain)
  • Elf 16hr Camo Concealer (Fair Rose)
  • MUA Ultra-fine Loose Setting Powder (mattifying translucent)
  • Benefit Dandelion Blusher/ Rimmel Natural Bronzer (Sun Light) for Woodland Wandering Look
  • Makeup Revolution Pressed Highlighter – previous Makeup Revolution advent calendar product (Ice Kiss)
  • NYX Lip Lingerie (Satin Ribbon)

There are a few products still in my collection that are not vegan and cruelty free (some have been there much longer than they should!). Rather than be wasteful I choose to use up these older products and then repurchase vegan, cruelty free alternatives.
