Clear out my Makeup with me! || Blogtober

After so long of constantly collecting new makeup, buying new bits and trying them out, it’s recently occurred to me just how little of the products I own, that I actually use or use on a regular basis anyway. Because of this, I thought that it was about time that I have a sift through and got rid of a few bits. To be quite honest, I didn’t clear out half as much as I probably should have, but I still got rid of some bits none the less. If you would like to see the bits that I am getting rid of and the reasons behind this, then be sure to keep reading.

*disclaimer – not all of these items will just be thrown away, I will be offering any hardly used products to friends and family and doing Back2MAC when I can.*

MAC Products:

I used to have such a love for MAC Lipsticks and they would be the only ones I’d wear, however after nearly 6 months of not reaching for them, I decided it was time to get rid of a few. I managed to pick 3 which were pretty much finished anyway and they included Velvet Teddy, which I my favourite nude of all time, Flat out Fabulous which was my go to everyday lipstick when I was 14/15 and lastly was Blankety. Blankety was one of my first MAC lipsticks and it’s such a lovely nude colours, it’s not o dark or too light and it also looks super glossy when on.

As I already had three items from MAC ready to go, I thought I would look through the rest of my collection to see if I had 6 to be able to do the BACK 2 MAC. And low and behold … I did. When I first started getting into blushes and Desert Rose quickly became a go-to … however recently blushes haven’t been something that I’ve been wearing as I don’t think they suit me (anymore, anyway) so this one has to go.

As much as I used to love the MAC painterly paint pot, I really don’t reach for it anymore but as the pot was still quite full, I decided to depot it so that I could still take the products back haha.
I’m sure you’ve all heard heard me go on about the Fluidline Gelcreme in Deep Dark Brunette because it was part of my everyday makeup routine for months and months. After opting for the more natural brow look, this has taken a back seat. With not much left in the pot now, it was perfect timing as it made up the 6 products I needed to take them BACK 2 MAC. If you don’t know what BACK 2 MAC is it’s basically where you can take 6 empty Mac containers and you can get a free MAC Lipstick in return as a thank you.

NYX Products:

I had such high hopes for the Yellow NYX Liquid Eyeliner but it really isn’t great. Although the pigment is there and it does apply nice and smoothly, it cracks so easily and looks so patchy and too thick after it’s dried.

Also from NYX, I have two of their shimmery single shadows (I can’t actually remember the shade names) but I don’t think I ever got around to using them, which is such a shame because they’re actually really good quality shadows and they have good colour payoff.

It’s starting to look like I really don’t like NYX products haha but that’s definitely not the case. But there’s a few of their products that just aren’t getting use and the next one is the Blush in the shade Taupe. I have always used this to contour because it has a really good cool undertone however lately it’s been looking very grey and muddy on my skin and just doesn’t look right anymore.

Mascaras:

Moving into mascaras. Does anyone else seem to pile up with mascaras and start using new ones but forget to clear them out. Well I certainly do and I didn’t realise just how many mascaras I have yet to use, am in the middle of using and ones that I haven’t used for months on end … gross I know. The two that I’m getting rid of include the L’Oreal Infallible One and the No7 rose gold 360. Both of these have quickly become my favourites (when I was using them) and although the no7 one isn’t unlike anything I have tried before so probably won’t be repurchasing, the L’Oreal one is a different story as it’s genuine one of my favourites I’ve tried and it’s almost like I’ve forgotten about it. It’s deffo on my to repurchase list.

The Body Shop Liquid Lips:

The Body Shop Liquid Lipstick in Sydney Amaryllis has been my spring / summer staple for a couple of years now and although it probably still has a lot of life left in it, I thought I was time to get rid of it and potentially repurchase it for next year. I did do a full review on these liquid lips and you can read that here.

Sleek Products:

As much as I love Sleeks products, I wasn’t too impressed with the contour kit. It is very hard to get the product out of each pan, unless you really warm the product up before you can actually get some onto the brush. Once you’re able to apply it onto the skin, it does blend easily and it’s super creamy. However, it does look very cakey and does stick to the under eye area.
The Sleek I-divine Eye Shadow palette in the colour Oh So Special. I can’t even remember where I got this, I think it may have been in a set or a subscription box or something but it just isn’t my type of palette. I’ve not even swatched this palette so I’m not just going to throw it away, I’m sure one of my friends or family members will love this.

Smashbox Trio:

I’m so gutted to be getting rid of this little Smashbox trio, but I have had it for like 5 maybe even 6 years and I’ve hardly used it, certainly not nearly enough, so I thought it was about time to get rid of it regardless of how much I love it. This came in a set so I do hope I’m able to buy a new one.

No7 Bronzing Stick:

Again, another product that I’ve had for so long is the No7 bronzing highlighter stick and this one came in a free no7 gift set a few years ago. I really love this because it gives such a nice bronzey glow and this is nice during colder months as it gives a bit of colour which is much needed.

Revolution Foundation:

The last product I’ll be getting rid of is the revolution stick foundation is actually really nice, it gives good coverage, it’s really blend able and doesn’t sit in lines or big pores. The only reason why I don’t like this one is because it’s too pale for me as I bought F1 (the lightest shade) and it was a big mistake. I have too many half used and hardly used foundations at the moment, but once I’ve used up some more of them and I repurchase this, I will have to get 2 to 3 shades darker.
  • Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, I really hope you enjoyed seeing the bits I’m getting rid of after my clear out.
