Birchbox Unboxing // January 2019.

It’s that time again … another month, another Birchbox opening. After such a pleasant surprise of how much I liked last months box, I was very much looking forward to receiving this months. If you would like to see December’s opening then you can click here, but for now let’s get into talking about these goodies.

The first item that I pulled out of the box is the Essence Moonlighter Cushion by CLE Cosmetics and I received the shade Copper Rose. This was said to ‘give a lustrous shine equivalent to that of a moonlight glistening on water‘, which I definitely agree with as it creates such a nice glow to the skin that doesn’t give a cakey or powdery look like other highlighters. I don’t think I’ve ever used a cushion product but I think this one has converted me as I love the way it blends as well as the way it looks and lasts on the skin. I like the fact that you can have a natural looking glow, but also build it up to make it really POP! This would normally retail at £28, which is a little more on the pricey side, but I think I’d happy spend that due to me really liking it … however I do think there are many other products that can give similar results for a fraction of the price.

I  absolutely love getting mini mascaras in order to try out new ones every now and then … and this one definitely did not disappoint. This one is the Max Lash Volumizer Mascara from the brand called DOUCCE and the full size tube of this retails at £17. The wand on this is quite thick and has lots of bristles in order to reach each and every lash. I’m really looking forward to using this mascara as it looks and, from the way it’s described, sounds right up my street. You can shop this mascara here.

One product that I was particularly happy to receive was the Coco & Coconut Superfood Reviving and Exfoliating Cleansing Bar from Dr Botanicals. I’m actually really looking forward to trying this out because it smells incredible and from the reviews and comments online, I can see that this will be really moisturising on the skin. If I like using this I’m sure you’ll all hear my thoughts about it in future post.

Next up, is the Philip Kingsley Flaky Itchy Scalp Shampoo and this is actually from a brand that I hadn’t heard of prior to getting it in the box. I think thats the beauty of a subscription service like this because you can try new products and brands that you probably wouldn’t have done without it. This was a really handy thing to get as we always need shampoo and having one thats particularly good for dandruff helps me as during the winter my skin can get quite dry so this will deffo come in handy sooner or later.

I then got a facial scrubber, another handy thing to have,  and I think the name of the brand this is from is Afterspa … again a brand that I haven’t heard of before, but I’m looking forward to adding this to my skincare routine. I find a lot of scrubbers can be too harsh on the facial skin, but this one should be much less harsh due to the fact that this one is specifically for use on the face.

From what I can tell from both December and January’s box, is that they always send a little extra something that isn’t necessarily a product and this month it was some hair bobbles. These always come in handy and they’re super cute with the little pom pom on the end … which actually matches with the theme (I think that’s the right word for it) of the box with ‘Shake your Pom Poms’.

And so, they were all of the bits and bobs that were in the January Birchbox and I have to say that again, I am very impressed and pleased with the products I received. I can’t wait to see what surprises the next months box has in store. Thank you so much for reading this post and I will see you in a few days for a new one!!
