My Makeup Collection Part 1 | Lip Wardrobe!

I recently read Alixkate’s makeup collection post and saw that she is doing a series showing each section of her makeup collection. As I thought this was a such a good idea to share everything in a number of posts, rather than a really long one, I thought I would share my collection in a number of parts too!

*just a quick disclaimer, I am in no way boasting about the products but I wanted to share them as I am nosy and love reading these type of posts!!*

Along with eye shadow palettes, lip products are the makeup items that I like to spend my money on, as they’re the items that tie the whole look together. I guess I have quite a big lip collection (obviously not as big as some peoples) and I’m constantly on the look out for new ones, so if you have any recommendations then please let me know in the comments below.

Let’s start off with my biggest, and most favourite lipsticks in my collection, my MAC Lipsticks!! I recently have had a clear out of these so I now have 9 and these include:

Velvet Teddy
Honeylove
Blankety
Flat Out Fabulous
Ruby Woo
Partyline
Whirl
Kinda Sexy
Mehr

These lipsticks all retail at £16.50, which is quite pricey but the quality and longevity of them do reflect the price. They also last soo long, I bought my first MAC Lipstick (Flat Out Fabulous) probably about 3 and 1/2 years ago now and it’s still going strong … I don’t really use it so much now and I probably should throw it out too but the colour is very different to anything else I have and it’s perfect for Autumn.

Also from MAC, I have the Lip Glass in Pink Lemonade, which is deffo a Summer go-to for me. The pigmentation it has for a Lip Gloss insane, it’s super bright and isn’t sticky like some glosses can be. I love wearing lip glosses during the summer as it keeps my lips hydrated.

Next up in my collection are The Body Shop Matte Liquid Lipsticks and I have 6 shades in these because I have such a love for them. If you would like to read my full review on these, I have a post over here. The formula of these lipsticks are probably one of my favourites of all time as they are super creamy, pigmented and comfortable on the lips. They remind me a lot of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams and they last on the lips without the need to reapply much, if at all!! They retail at just £6 and for the quality and performance it makes them so affordable and the perfect lip product to either start off or add to your makeup collection.

Windsor Rose
Crete Carnation
Nairobi Camellia
Tapei Orchid
Cali Gerbera
Sydney Amaryllis

Next up are the Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks, which I have been using for years now, I remember these were my ride or die go-to’s back in high school because they weren’t expensive but they were still really good quality and the nudes were perfect for school makeup. Now we all know I love a good ol’ nude lip and these are some of my favourites from the drugstore just because they are really well priced at just £5.49, but you can find them even cheaper online, and they’re on 3 for 2 at Superdrug. These lipsticks are really hydrating and they give the lips a bit of a shine, but not as much as a gloss, which I love for everyday looks.

Also from Rimmel, I have the Provocalips 16hr Kiss Proof Matte Liquid Lipstick in Kiss Me You Fool and I’m sure you’ve seen me talk about this one a lot on my blog. This lipstick is so comfortable and lightweight for a matte lipstick but it still has a whole lotta pigment and lasts on the lips, without it bleeding which many red lipsticks can do!! As well as the matte side to this liquid lipstick, it also has another side to give the colour a good shine but it’s still very much matte. I find a lot of liquid lipsticks can sometime take quite a while to dry but this one takes less than 1 minute and you’re ready to in seconds.

You may know that NYX is hands down one on my favourite drugstore brands and they’re lip products are constantly raved about by so many people. I have three of the incredible Butter Glosses in Vanilla Cream Pie, Creme Brulee and Eclair. Creme Brulee and Eclair are nude shades and VCP is more of a pink. I’m such a fan of these glosses as they’re so soft and hydrating, without feeling sticky or too thick. They have pretty decent pigment for such a well priced product, it’s described as medium coverage, but I like the fact that they can look very subtle and with a little bit of liner they can look so much more pigmented.

Also from NYX I have one of their Soft Matte Lip Creams in Athens, which is a perfect, but a little pale, warm toned nude and a NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick in Sandstorm, which is a dark browny nude and is said to be the perfect dupe of the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in Dolce K.

Next up I have the Collection Velvet Kiss Lipstick in Rosie 3 and I find that this is almost identical to the NYX Soft Matte Lipcreams, only cheaper!! This is quite a dark red, almost vampy, shade which is perfect for fall. Again this lipstick is very hydrating and doesn’t dry out the lips as it’s not quite matte, but it has the look and longevity of a matte lipstick. I have noticed that this colour can also bleed a little bit, but if you remove it before eating/drinking and then reapply after, it shouldn’t do this!

Another lip product that I have from Collection is the SPF15 Lip Colour in Fudge Delight. I’m not the biggest fan of this I must say, but it was on 3 for 2, when I bought it, and I wanted to try it out as I thought it may be nice for the summer. This is a nude lipstick, however it looks a lot like a lip balm, and it doesn’t really show any colour when applied. This may be nice to use when I’m wearing no/ or next to no makeup during the summer to protect my lips from burning.

If you didn’t know, I am very self conscious about how thin my lips are and hopefully within the next year I will be able to get fillers, but for now I’ve been using some plumping glosses … admittedly they aren’t great and don’t give the look that I’d really want, but they’ll do for now. I try not to use these too often but when I do I use the Sally Hansen Lip Plumper in the shade Full. Although I’m not much of a gloss lover, I really like this one as it quite a warm toned brown-y shade and it smells so much like Hot Cross Buns … I just love it. I also use the Kiko Lip Plumper which I don’t think actually works at all and I’m not a fan of the colour but the gloss it’s self is really smooth.

Moving onto some of my longest loved products that I have probably been using for a good 5/6 years now and still just as much in love with as I was when I first tried them and they are the No7 Lip Crayons. I have a Matte one in the shade Raspberry Red and a mini High Shine one which doesn’t say a shade, but its from a set. As you can see, from my collection of lip products, I don’t have very many lip crayons but I do really like using them as they are super easy to use, especially when on the go or travelling, as they work so well as a lipstick and a lip liner … or in the case of the high shine one, a lip gloss and a lip liner. I highly recommend these!!

The other Lip Crayon in my collection is from Rodial in the shade Big Apple, which is a red-y warm toned brown nude shade. I hadn’t actually heard of this brand until I tried out Glossybox and I received it in the box and I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth and comfortable it is on the lips … however it does retail at £22 which I feel is a little pricey, but the lipstick itself is deffo worth a try if you’re looking for a new high end lip product!

I usually like to stay away from ‘celebrity’ makeup products as I do feel like they can be either to expensive or not that good of quality (if you know who I may be referencing here) but with Chloe Ferry’s and Kady McDermott’s I very much wanted to try them out, not only because they actually looked like they were good quality, but because they were very well priced as well. I have the Chloe Ferry Liquid Lipstick in the shade Envy which is a dark nudey brown shade and it is currently on sale for just £6!!! (here). Now my new obsession is the ByKady Velvet Liquid Lipstick in Unbutton and this is a warm toned nude shade (you may see a pattern forming here!!). If you would like to see my full review please ~ click here ~.

The next lip products I have are the Mini Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Glosses which all came in a holiday set and I have the shades (L-R) Pout, Coraline, Superstar, Orchid and Disco Rose. Although these glosses are quite pricey the performance, quality and pigmentation definitely reflect the price. They’re highly pigmented, super smooth and really moisturising and these should deffo be on your list to try if you love a good gloss!!

Following on with some more glosses I also have some from Lipsy, which actually came in a gift set. These shades annoyingly don’t seem to have a name as I think they’re exclusive to the set so I’ll keep it short and sweet for these. They come with one nude gloss and one more of a purple-y pink. I’d never tried any of lipsy’s products before these and admittedly I did think that they would be almost like kids makeup but they’re super smooth and actually have a nice slick colour and even application.

Next up is the Max Factor Max Effect Gloss Cube in 06 Choc Brown, which again is a dark nude gloss … right up my street. I also have the Givenchy Gloss Revelateur which looks like a clear gloss but comes out pink which is super cool. If you use just one swipe it’s clear and the more swipes you do the more pink it gets and apparently this is because it reacts to the PH in your lips which works to match your individual lip colour!! I love the way it looks on the lips because it just looks so natural but has such a shine to it as well as being buttery smooth ~ it smells fab too!! This gloss may seem a little pricey at £25.95 but at the end of the day it is Givenchy and the price is going to reflect that … but personally I have such a love for this gloss that I would save up for this each and every time.

Now for the final few lipsticks I have the Revlon Matte Lipstick in 001 Nude Attitude, which is quite a pale almost orange toned nude and is a pretty good match to the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Athens. I also have the Collection lipstick in Saintly, which is like a shimmery pale pink, this was also bought because of a 3 for 2 deal and I’m not much of a fan of the shade to be honest. The ELF Matte Lipstick in Nostalgic has been in my collection for years now as I once went through a stage of loving really pale nudes but now I use this to give an ombre look on a darker nude lip. Last but not least is the Soap and Glory Matte Nude Lipstick in Cinnamon Beige, again this is a dark nude but is so super pigmented, really comfortable on the lips without being drying and is only £9 which is such a good dupe for the MAC Lipsticks, this shade could particularly be a good dupe for Velvet Teddy maybe?

And those are all my lipsticks currently in my makeup collection. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, I really hope you enjoyed this post and liked that it was longer than usual. If you liked this post do make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the next parts to this series as there should be quite a few posts to come.
