10 Tools + Products EVERY Beauty Lover Needs! | 12 Days of Christmas

Good evening guys and welcome to today’s post, which is a little less festive than the rest going up this month, but I really wanted to share it as I find hacks, tips and advice so useful and I know some of you may find these useful too. I have discovered these over the last few years or so, mainly through blogs and YouTube videos or some things that I’ve tried and discovered myself and do a fab job. So, here are 10 tools and products EVERY beauty lover needs.

Castor Oil:

The oldest products in this list, but one that still needs to be talked about because so many people still sleep on it. Castor Oil is a multi-purpose oil made from seeds of the Ricinus Communis plant; who would’ve thought it could be used as a beauty product? From being used as a moisturiser, an acne treatment, a hair mask to not only hydrate the hair and scalp but to promote the growth of hair up to 5x faster too! Yes, there are many hair masks and acne treatments out there but they can be pricey, for under £10 (depending on the brand) you can stock up on this and you can use it in the place of a number of other products.

BaByliss Curler:

Now, we’ve all heard of the Dyson Airwrap, every beauty guru, vlogger, celebrity, your next door neighbour seems to have it and is talking about just how great it is. But what if I told you there was a dupe from Babylis for 1/10 of the price. Yes, you read that right, less than £50 for a high quality, alternative that’ll give you the same results. The BaByliss 2663VU Curl Secret Simplicity is an effortless, auto-curl hair tool that does your curls for you. You place a section of the hair on top of the barrel, it rolls it up and beeps when it’s done so you release the the hair and you have a loose, effortless curl. The difference between the BaByliss curler to the Airwrap is that it does have multiple heads so won’t dry your hair but, after a quick blow dry, the results are near on identical. We’ve all seen the dressing gown curls, and slept with our hair in plaits but for some loose beach waves in a matter of minutes that are guaranteed to not go wrong, this curler is the way forward.

Epilator:

It wasn’t until the 1960’s that waxing became the most popular method of hair removal; it’s the best method to get a clean finish with minimal bumps and rashes. You can buy at home waxing kits but they can quite messy and if you’re not 100% sure what you’re doing, you can end up with bruising, ingrown hairs and burns, if the wax is too hot. The best alternative, to get the same finish as with waxing, is to Epilate. Just like waxing, using an Epilator for the first time can be a little bit painful but the longer you do it, the easier and less painful it gets until the hair get’s more sparse and weak which is when you will no longer feel it. The benefits of Epilating are that you’ll achieve smoother skin, long-lasting results and it’ll reduce or even completely stop hair growth in that area. Epilators have a vast price range and you can get some really good ones even at a low cost, so this is a method that is accessible for almost everybody.

Gua Sha:

Not long ago us beauty lovers were going crazy for the Rose Quartz Skin Roller but this new little tool is taking the world by storm in recent weeks. I’m sure we’ve all been introduced to the Gua Sha by now but, if you haven’t it’s a massage tool designed to stroke your face in different motions to improve your circulation, drain the lymph nodes, minimise the look of fine lines and wrinkles and even help to tone your face to give you that jawline everyone is aching for. It’s also said to treat the likes of migraines and neck pain. For best results pop this in the fridge or freezer before use for a cold, refreshing feeling. I can only imagine how great this tool will feel after a shower at the end of a hot summers days. Are you ready to up your skincare game? To reduce the look of your fine lines and wrinkles? Give your skin that TLC it’s in need of? This is the tool for you.

PMD Clean:

A tool not half as raved about as much as the LumiSpa is the PMD Clean; a smart facial cleansing device with anti-ageing settings, it can clean, apply every single on of your skincare products from eye cream to serum to moisturisers. It vibrates at different speeds to make sure every product get’s deep into each layer of your skin for plump, hydrated and youthful skin. Love your facials? Then why not have one every morning and another every evening? To clear your skin of yesterday’s makeup and dirty to get into bed all fresh and clean with that post salon glow. A multi-use products that will give you the perfect base to apply your makeup every morning. A tool that will thank your skin in years to come.

Press-on Nails:

It wasn’t until the early 2000’s that press-on’s became a big craze but in the last year, when people couldn’t get they’re fresh gel mani-pedi’s or Acrylic nails, unless they had the patience to do their own, many people turned to press-on’s. Not only can you buy sets from your local beauty store but so many small businesses have started making their own, doing bespoke designs and fitting them to the customer. As long as you use a strong glue, aren’t too heavy handed with them, they can last a good few weeks and help you feel put together and glam at a percentage of the cost of going to the salon. This craze looks set to stay put long after nail salons are able to open their doors again!

LED Nail Lamp:

The sales of LED nail lamps and nail dryers have soared since the beginning of the pandemic because we just can’t live without our fresh gel nails. Although regular nail polish does the job, gel nails give that extra shine, protection for the nails and they last longer too. Nail lamps set the gel polish in place instantly with no waiting around afterwards or that dreaded risk of smudging your polish hours after you painted them because they just never seem to dry. If you have the patience to paint your own nails this is a tool you need to get your hands on to feel pampered in the comfort of your own home. Do you live with your girlfriends or your mum or sister? Why not treat yourselves to one and do each others nails, this will not pass some time while we’re still waiting for those rules to be lifted and get yourselves ready for June 21st.

Electric Makeup Brush Cleaner:

I’m sure we’re all guilty of not cleaning our brushes half as much as we should but let’s be honest, it’s a chore. Not only does it take a while, especially if you have a big collection of brushes but the whole process can make a mess and they can take days to dry. However, Electric Makeup Brush Cleaners are a thing and they can make the a whole lot easier for you by not only cleaning your brushes but drying them too in just 30 seconds per brush! These electric cleaners can take the fuss and mess out of the cleaning process by filling the pot with water and some brush cleaner or soap, dunk the brush in the water with a little bit of pressure to fan the bristles, moving the brush up and down for 10 seconds and bring the brush slowly out of the water where the excess product and dirty water will fan itself out for a further 10 seconds, until the machine will turn off and your brush will be clean and dry. What an invention?! This is something we all need to keep us on top of cleaning those brushes.

Petroleum Jelly:

We all know and probably use Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline) on regular occasions but there are so many uses for this trusty little products that many people don’t even know. Not only is Vaseline great for use on dry lips, it can be used as a body and facial moisturiser, a face mask, for faster hair grown on the eyebrows, eyelashes and even the head of hair. It’s great for slowing down the signs of ageing overtime as it’ll keep your skin really hydrated but it’s also a very natural, fragrance free products so irritation won’t occur and it can be used on the most dry of skin or skin conditions such as Eczema. Some other amazing beauty hacks for Vaseline are to apply it to all the areas you’re going to apply your Perfume or Cologne to help it last longer, it can remove eyelash glue from false lashes or your own after use, and it keeps Nail Polish lids from drying shut as well as many, many more; it’s definitely a product to always have at home. It’s such a low priced products meaning it’s accessible to many, many people, but it’s so versatile and is guaranteed to help achieve some great results after use.

TooFaced Lip Plumper:

Are you scared of needles? Find lip fillers a little too pricey? Lip plumpers are you answer; they’re painless but can feel a little uncomfortable for a few minutes but if you’re looking for a quick fix and a bit of a plumper pout they’re the best option. Many lip plumpers on the market really don’t work, but if you spend a little bit more on them they work a treat. The TooFaced Lip Injection is the most hyped plumper on the market at the moment and it plumps your lips up to twice the size, gives them a lovely red tint and people will think you’ve had filler. This lasts a couple of hours until you have to reapply but the best quick fix if you’re not committed to the idea of injections just yet.
