My Favourite Highlighters For The Ultimate Festive Glow. | Blogmas

One product I go to town on this time of year is the highlight; the brightest, sparkliest, glow that I can find. It’s one of those products that I feel like my makeup isn’t finished without and a lot of the time I even use a shimmery blush at the same time, so you can tell just how much I love a good glow. So for this post, I wanted to share half a dozen of my favourite highlighters for the ultimate festive glow. Whether you’re on a budget, you like more natural highlighters or you like a cream highlighter, I have included something for everyone in this list.

Little warning, I say ‘highlighter’ god knows how many different times in this post that it may as well be a drinking game!

Revolution Inglot Highlighter | Rose Gold:

I’m sure you all expected at least one Revolution product in this post, but there’s actually 3 because I couldn’t narrow them down to any less; even choosing just 3 was a struggle. My first fave highlighter for the festive glow is the Revolution Inglot in Rose Gold. I find that rose gold highlighters are the best for my skin tone, as a lot of golds can be a little bit dark, and they give me a little bit of a rosy glow too. I’m such a fan of glowy, shimmery blushes, so this works as a good 2-in-1 product so I don’t need to use the blush too. It’s very creamy so it blends in almost seamlessly without giving off that powdery look, it’s really pigmented so even after the brush holds on to some product, you don’t have to work with it a lot. It’s also one of the only highlighters that I will be mentioning in this post that doesn’t have an sparkles init; it’s more just iridescent.   I believe this may have been discontinued as I can’t find it anywhere but I’d say one of the closest alternative, which is also from Revolution, would be the Revolution Pro Nath Magic Glow, although it has got some swirls of gold in too. If anyone knows if this has actually been discontinued or if there is somewhere you can find it online, please do let me know in the comments.

Revolution Liquid Highlighter | Liquid Starlight:

Also from Revolution is a liquid highlighter call Starlight. Starlight is almost rose gold, but I would say it’s more of a light pinky silver (I’m not the best at describing colours l o l). A little goes a long way with this so I recommend using a tiny bit, blending it in until it looks the way you want it to. It blends really easily too and for that I’m so pleased because so many of the liquid highlighters I have tried in the past stick to the skin and you end up with patchy dots of it on your cheeks; this is the main reason why I’ve always tried to steer clear of them. I had never been a cream or liquid highlighter kinda girl until I tried this one and it’s definitely converted me. So much so that I’m just coming to the end of this tube and I’ve already got my backup ready. I did write a full review on this highlighter so if you would like to read an in depth review, all my thoughts and a swatch then be sure to head over to the post.

Revolution Praline Palette | Ripple:

The last of the Revolution highlighters is Ripple from the Praline face palette and it’s a shimmery pink with ‘ripples’ of darker pink running through it. The picture about doesn’t really show how bright this pink looks in the pan but on the skin it’s not too overpowering. It’s got a glow to it but it’s not shimmery and it’s not iridescent; I would compare it to a baked blush. It does need a little bit of working with if you wanted to build up the colour but this one is really nice for the healthy, everyday glow or someone who likes a more natural highlight.

Anastasia Sugar Glow Kit | Gum Drop:

Next up we have Gum Drop from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sugar Glow Kit. Gum Drop looks like a champagne colour highlight in the pan but it has very pink iridescent reflects that make it look more pink on the skin. It does have an ever so slight sparkle to it which compliments the colour really nicely and I can just imagine a sultry smokey eye and a glossy lip to make the highlight stand out. The ABH Glow Kits are quite pricey but you do get really good quality, pigmented, creamy highlighters that blend really nicely and give your skin that hydrated, wet look. The palette has big pans and an array of different colours to it too meaning you wouldn’t necessarily need any other highlighters in your collection. And taking all of this into account £42, making each pan £10.50 each makes it very much worth it and if you can get it on sale even better!

Anastasia Loose Highlighter | Vegas:

Back at the end of Summer I made a huge Anastasia Beverly Hills haul and a promotion meant that I could get this full size highlighter for free. I had never tried a loose highlighter before but I have been reaching for this so much that it’s quickly become an all time favourite of mine. This is a stunning pale ish gold, which works really well with my skin tone, it’s so pigmented and literally screams Christmas time. It’s got that added sparkle, but there’s lots of it and one swipe of the product gives you the ultimate glow. Being a loose powder, it seems to apply much better with a brush than a pressed powder one. If you’re not into those sparkly sort of highlights, then this may not be fore you, especially not an every day one, but I’d highly recommend trying it; it’s also FAB for party’s and more glam makeup looks as well.

Illamasqua Beyond Powder Highlight | Deity:

The last highlighter that always helps me achieve the ultimate festive glow is the Illamasqua Beyond Powder in Deity. I received this in the 2018 Look Fantastic beauty advent calendar and I always seem to forget about it, until this time of year rolls around and it becomes another one of my reached for. Deity is much more of a natural looking highlight because you can hardly see it until the light hits it and then it POPS and you see all the sparkles. When I say sparkles, I mean a damn lot of sparkles; I know many people wouldn’t like this but it is party season after all so gimme all the sparkles and glitter.
