New In : Drugstore Skincare Haul.

As you can see, I'm still going through this phase of loving skincare and constantly wanted to try new products out. As my skin is starting to clear up, I'm trying to keep it that way by keeping on top of my breakouts and keeping my skin hydrated etc. and I thought I would share these few products that I picked up in Boots and on Beauty Bay!

The first item I picked up is the Neutrogena Visably Clear Pink Grapefruit Daily ScrubI’ve been using Neutrogena cleansers on and off for years now and I really like this Pink Grapefruit one. Over the past few months I’ve been using a scrub every other day and the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel on the days in between but during the autumn/ winter my skin has been getting quite dry so a daily scrub is going to work better for my skin as it’s not as harsh on the skin as the Nip + Fab Glycolic Face Scrub is.

Next up is the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, which I'm sure you've all heard about as it's been raved about so much in the Beauty World. Now this is brand new and usually lasts me months, but being as clumsy as I am, I spilt half of it before I even had a chance to use it!! This is probably the only product that I rely on to sort out any breakouts and blemishes, just because I know how well it works and that it wont let me down. This retails at £16, which may seem a little pricey for such a small bottle, but this can last so long as you only need the slightest bit. To use you dip a cotton bud into it and then dot in on your breakouts ... obviously the more breakouts you have, the more you will use, but even when my acne was really bad, this bottle would still last me 8-9 months!! They've recently changed the bottle from glass to plastic, which I really like as it's now a lot more travel friendly.

I’m sure you all know about my love for these Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Masks and I decided to try the Sakura one this time, which I haven’t tried before. These are very much the same as the FACEINC sheet masks by NAILSINC but these are just £2.99 with the FACEINC ones being £5. These masks are so hydrating and really almost give the skin a new lease of life. I prefer sheet masks to other types of face masks as they aren’t as messy and they’re super easy to pop on and off whether you’re in a rush or want a relaxing pamper evening. If you haven’t tried these out, I’d deffo recommend you do!!

The last item I picked up is the Garnier Aloe Extract Toner. I’m running out of my Mario Badescu Rose Water Spray and I wanted to try something else out to see if I can find a cheaper alternative. This was just £3.49, compared to the Mario Badescu Facial Sprays which are £7/£11. I have heard really good things about Garnier Toner's and I really like the Micellar Water so I am really looking forward to trying this out.

Until next time,
Luci

W7 Primer Magic Camera Ready Face Primer | Review!

For me, one of the most important part to my makeup is the base and the primer plays a big part in how the makeup looks overall. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now you will know that some of my all time favourite makeup products are by W7 including the Delicious Palette, the Honolulu Bronzer and the Genius Feather Light Foundation. As I love W7’s eyeshadow palettes and foundations I wanted to branch out and try some of their other products and see if they match up to the performance of these. I chose to try out the primer and this is the Prime Magic Camera Ready Face Primer in the purple colour which is supposed to brighten the look of the skin. I chose this one particularly because I love a glowy and hydrated base.

This primer has a silicone type feel to it, which I thought I would really like, as I have quite big pores and silicone primers are incredible for creating a smooth base ready for makeup. After application I did feel that my skin was very much hydrated and it did look much brighter. As much as I blended the primer, I did feel that it was just sitting on top of my skin and when I started to apply the foundation it wouldn’t sink into the skin either and created almost a mask. I found that the foundation was very much sticking to my dry patches, which I know this may be solely down to me having dry patches on my skin and not the primer drying it out, but the beauty blender was just moving the makeup across my skin rather than bouncing it in.

These primers also come in Clear and Green which is for cancelling out redness and they’re said to be incredible dupes for the Smashbox Photo Finish Primers. I really like the Smashbox PF Clear primer so I may try out the Clear one by W7 to see if that one is more suited to my skin and to see if it works just as well as the Smashbox one!!

This Primer retails at £6.95, however you can pick it up for much cheaper on Amazon and eBay, and this is very well priced considering you do get a decent sized amount of the product. I did have very high hopes for this primer as I’m such a lover of W7 cosmetics but this was a let down for me. This may work wonders for those with oily skin and maybe normal skin, but for me (I have combination skin) it just wasn’t a match for what I like in a primer.

I’m gutted that this post did seem quite negative, but I know you all rely on us bloggers to be truthful with our thoughts and opinions. This post was in no way bashing W7 as a brand because I genuinely love their products so much, however, this primer just wasn't for me and my skin type.

I hope you all don't mind that this post was a little short, but I really wanted to share my opinion on this product with you all!! Let me know your thoughts on this primer if you've tried it in the comments below, I'd love to know what you think. Also please let me know some of your go-to primers that you think I should try out!!

Until next time,
Luci

My Makeup Collection Part 1 | Lip Wardrobe!

I recently read Alixkate's makeup collection post and saw that she is doing a series showing each section of her makeup collection. As I thought this was a such a good idea to share everything in a number of posts, rather than a really long one, I thought I would share my collection in a number of parts too!

Check out Alix's post: here!

*just a quick disclaimer, I am in no way boasting about the products but I wanted to share them as I am nosy and love reading these type of posts!!*

Along with eye shadow palettes, lip products are the makeup items that I like to spend my money on, as they're the items that tie the whole look together. I guess I have quite a big lip collection (obviously not as big as some peoples) and I'm constantly on the look out for new ones, so if you have any recommendations then please let me know in the comments below.

Let's start off with my biggest, and most favourite lipsticks in my collection, my MAC Lipsticks!! I recently have had a clear out of these so I now have 9 and these include:

Velvet Teddy
Honeylove
Blankety
Flat Out Fabulous
Ruby Woo
Partyline
Whirl
Kinda Sexy
Mehr

These lipsticks all retail at £16.50, which is quite pricey but the quality and longevity of them do reflect the price. They also last soo long, I bought my first MAC Lipstick (Flat Out Fabulous) probably about 3 and 1/2 years ago now and it's still going strong ... I don't really use it so much now and I probably should throw it out too but the colour is very different to anything else I have and it's perfect for Autumn.

Check out my MAC Lipstick Collection Post (here)

Also from MAC, I have the Lip Glass in Pink Lemonade, which is deffo a Summer go-to for me. The pigmentation it has for a Lip Gloss insane, it's super bright and isn't sticky like some glosses can be. I love wearing lip glosses during the summer as it keeps my lips hydrated.

Next up in my collection are The Body Shop Matte Liquid Lipsticks and I have 6 shades in these because I have such a love for them. If you would like to read my full review on these, I have a post over here. The formula of these lipsticks are probably one of my favourites of all time as they are super creamy, pigmented and comfortable on the lips. They remind me a lot of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams and they last on the lips without the need to reapply much, if at all!! They retail at just £6 and for the quality and performance it makes them so affordable and the perfect lip product to either start off or add to your makeup collection.

The shades I have include:

Windsor Rose
Crete Carnation
Nairobi Camellia
Tapei Orchid
Cali Gerbera
Sydney Amaryllis

Next up are the Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks, which I have been using for years now, I remember these were my ride or die go-to's back in high school because they weren't expensive but they were still really good quality and the nudes were perfect for school makeup.

(top to bottom)

03 - My Cool Nude
42
43
45

Now we all know I love a good ol' nude lip and these are some of my favourites from the drugstore just because they are really well priced at just £5.49, but you can find them even cheaper online, and they're on 3 for 2 at Superdrug. These lipsticks are really hydrating and they give the lips a bit of a shine, but not as much as a gloss, which I love for everyday looks.

Also from Rimmel, I have the Provocalips 16hr Kiss Proof Matte Liquid Lipstick in Kiss Me You Fool and I'm sure you've seen me talk about this one a lot on my blog. This lipstick is so comfortable and lightweight for a matte lipstick but it still has a whole lotta pigment and lasts on the lips, without it bleeding which many red lipsticks can do!! As well as the matte side to this liquid lipstick, it also has another side to give the colour a good shine but it's still very much matte. I find a lot of liquid lipsticks can sometime take quite a while to dry but this one takes less than 1 minute and you're ready to in seconds.

You may know that NYX is hands down one on my favourite drugstore brands and they're lip products are constantly raved about by so many people. I have three of the incredible Butter Glosses in Vanilla Cream Pie, Creme Brulee and Eclair. Creme Brulee and Eclair are nude shades and VCP is more of a pink. I'm such a fan of these glosses as they're so soft and hydrating, without feeling sticky or too thick. They have pretty decent pigment for such a well priced product, it's described as medium coverage, but I like the fact that they can look very subtle and with a little bit of liner they can look so much more pigmented.

Also from NYX I have one of their Soft Matte Lip Creams in Athens, which is a perfect, but a little pale, warm toned nude and a NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick in Sandstorm, which is a dark browny nude and is said to be the perfect dupe of the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in Dolce K.

Next up I have the Collection Velvet Kiss Lipstick in Rosie 3 and I find that this is almost identical to the NYX Soft Matte Lipcreams, only cheaper!! This is quite a dark red, almost vampy, shade which is perfect for fall. Again this lipstick is very hydrating and doesn't dry out the lips as it's not quite matte, but it has the look and longevity of a matte lipstick. I have noticed that this colour can also bleed a little bit, but if you remove it before eating/drinking and then reapply after, it shouldn't do this!

Another lip product that I have from Collection is the SPF15 Lip Colour in Fudge Delight. I'm not the biggest fan of this I must say, but it was on 3 for 2, when I bought it, and I wanted to try it out as I thought it may be nice for the summer. This is a nude lipstick, however it looks a lot like a lip balm, and it doesn't really show any colour when applied. This may be nice to use when I'm wearing no/ or next to no makeup during the summer to protect my lips from burning.

If you didn't know, I am very self conscious about how thin my lips are and hopefully within the next year I will be able to get fillers, but for now I've been using some plumping glosses ... admittidly they aren't great and don't give the look that I'd really want, but they'll do for now. I try not to use these too often but when I do I use the Sally Hansen Lip Plumper in the shade Full. Although I'm not much of a gloss lover, I really like this one as it quite a warm toned brown-y shade and it smells so much like Hot Cross Buns ... I just love it. I also use the Kiko Lip Plumper which I don't think actually works at all and I'm not a fan of the colour but the gloss it's self is really smooth.

Moving onto some of my longest loved products that I have probably been using for a good 5/6 years now and still just as much in love with as I was when I first tried them and they are the No7 Lip Crayons. I have a Matte one in the shade Raspberry Red and a mini High Shine one which doesn't say a shade, but its from a set. As you can see, from my collection of lip products, I don't have very many lip crayons but I do really like using them as they are super easy to use, especially when on the go or travelling, as they work so well as a lipstick and a lip liner ... or in the case of the high shine one, a lip gloss and a lip liner. I highly recommend these!!

The other Lip Crayon in my collection is from Rodial in the shade Big Apple, which is a red-y warm toned brown nude shade. I hadn't actually heard of this brand until I tried out Glossybox and I received it in the box and I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth and comfortable it is on the lips ... however it does retail at £22 which I feel is a little pricey, but the lipstick itself is deffo worth a try if you're looking for a new high end lip product!

I usually like to stay away from 'celebrity' makeup products as I do feel like they can be either to expensive or not that good of quality (if you know who I may be referencing here) but with Chloe Ferry's and Kady McDermott's I very much wanted to try them out, not only because they actually looked like they were good quality, but because they were very well priced as well. I have the Chloe Ferry Liquid Lipstick in the shade Envy which is a dark nudey brown shade and it is currently on sale for just £6!!! (here). Now my new obsession is the ByKady Velvet Liquid Lipstick in Unbutton and this is a warm toned nude shade (you may see a pattern forming here!!). If you would like to see my full review please ~ click here ~.

The next lip products I have are the Mini Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Glosses which all came in a holiday set and I have the shades (L-R) Pout, Coraline, Superstar, Orchid and Disco Rose. Although these glosses are quite pricey the performance, quality and pigmentation definitely reflect the price. They're highly pigmented, super smooth and really moisturising and these should deffo be on your list to try if you love a good gloss!!

Following on with some more glosses I also have some from Lipsy, which actually came in a gift set. These shades annoyingly don't seem to have a name as I think they're exclusive to the set so I'll keep it short and sweet for these. They come with one nude gloss and one more of a purple-y pink. I'd never tried any of lipsy's products before these and admittedly I did think that they would be almost like kids makeup but they're super smooth and actually have a nice slick colour and even application.

Next up is the Max Factor Max Effect Gloss Cube in 06 Choc Brown, which again is a dark nude gloss ... right up my street. I also have the Givenchy Gloss Revelateur which looks like a clear gloss but comes out pink which is super cool. If you use just one swipe it's clear and the more swipes you do the more pink it gets and apparantly this is because it reacts to the PH in your lips which works to match your individual lip colour!! I love the way it looks on the lips because it just looks so natural but has such a shine to it as well as being buttery smooth ~ it smells fab too!! This gloss may seem a little pricey at £25.95 but at the end of the day it is Givenchy and the price is going to reflect that ... but personally I have such a love for this gloss that I would save up for this each and every time.

Now for the final few lipsticks I have the Revlon Matte Lipstick in 001 Nude Attitude, which is quite a pale almost orange toned nude and is a pretty good match to the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Athens. I also have the Collection lipstick in Saintly, which is like a shimmery pale pink, this was also bought because of a 3 for 2 deal and I'm not much of a fan of the shade tbh. The ELF Matte Lipstick in Nostalgic has been in my collection for years now as I once went through a stage of loving really pale nudes but now I use this to give an ombre look on a darker nude lip. Last but not least is the Soap and Glory Matte Nude Lipstick in Cinnamon Beige, again this is a dark nude but is so super pigmented, really comfortable on the lips without being drying and is only £9 which is such a good dupe for the MAC Lipsticks, this shade could particularly be a good dupe for Velvet Teddy maybe?
I really hope you enjoyed this post and liked that it was longer than usual.

Until next time,
Luci

Foundations Perfect For VERY Pale Skin.

Don't forget to subscribe to my blog for notifications of my new posts!! 🡕

Although I don't class myself as having VERY pale skin, I do have quite pale skin and it can be difficult to find foundations that match my skin tone, so I can't imagine how much harder it is for those that are very pale. I'm usually an Ivory in most brands, but I find most brands consider Ivory the palest shade, however it's usually quite dark and orange toned.

Recently I have come across a few new foundations that have a wide variety of shades including the palest of pale, so I thought I would share them with you all to help a gal (or guy) out!

The first one is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum which I have been using for a long while now and their lightest shade is no51 Light Vanilla. Although this foundation only has 6 shades which isn't a lot, the lightest shade is probably 1-2 shades lighter than your standard Ivory. I picked up this shade as I'm usually the lightest shade but this actually turned out to be way to light for my skin tone, so if you're a light porcelain then this could be a good match for you!!

The next foundation that carries good pale shades is the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation. Not only does this one have good pale shades, but the tones are also a perfect match too!! The fact that the shade I picked up is too light for me ... which never seems to happen ... and there is another shade even lighter than this one as well makes this a very good foundation line. Although this is a little pricey, the coverage and longevity of it reflects the price which makes it worth every penny. This isn’t the type of foundation that I would personally wear everyday as it’s so full coverage but it does work very well as a mixer especially if mixed with a more glowy foundation which I really like for everyday makeup!!

Next up is the MAX Factor Facefinity 3-in-1 Foundation which (I believe) has 14 shades. The shades they have include Light Ivory, which is actually true-to-colour and would match someone who is normally a Porcelain. I really like this foundation mainly because it's a 3-in-1 (primer, concealer and foundation) and also has SPF 15, which makes it perfect for everyday us, especially during the summer when you don't want to cake your face in heavy makeup but still want to feel fresh faced.

Last but not least, is the No7 Stay Perfect Foundation and I use the shade Calico. One thing I particularly love about No7 Foundations is that they can match you to your shade very quick and easy and with 24 shades including Porcelain, Cool Ivory and Calico, I'm confident that this foundation will be able to find the perfect shade for even the palest of skin tones. This foundation has very good coverage, but is also lightweight, has SPF 15 and is said to last up to 24 hours (not that someone would usually wear it for that long but it does last throughout the day without going patchy or cakey).

What I really like most about all of these foundations is that you will be the same shade in each of the brands foundation so if you're No51 in the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation you will also be shade No51 in the Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation too!!

Until next time,
Luci

Beauty Blender Cleanser Dupe | Cleaning Your Brushes The Easy Way!

Anyone else really dislike having to wash your makeup brushes? because I certainly do ... I find myself holding it off for way to long and finding any excuse not to do it!! But with the new Obsession Solid Brush Cleaner, it makes cleaning your brushes much less of a chore and you can wash a handful of brushes at the same time!!

I have been using the Beauty Blender Solid Cleanser for years now and it does work a treat on my sponges and brushes, but I find that they're quite small (this one came with my BB so this is slightly smaller than the full size one!) and they run out super quickly. However, with the new Obsession Brush Cleaner, you get twice the amount of product for half the price of the BB one and this means you can wash a number of brushes at the same time.

I have a pretty big collection of makeup brushes, and I would usually break down the whole cleaning process a bit by cleaning my everyday brushes one day, then eye brushes the next and so on. But now I can clean my whole set of brushes in about 10-15 minutes.

I find when I clean my brushes with soaps or shampoo's etc. that they can make the brush hairs quite stiff and hard afterwards, but this cleanser really keeps the brushes feeling soft. I always noticed that the first time I would use my brushes after washing them, that some of the hairs would shed onto my face making it difficult to do my makeup, especially face makeup, which I haven't had with since using this one.

I really have been liking this cleanser as its quick & easy, keeps your brushes soft, cleans deep into the brush hairs, doesn't cause them to shed AND it's only £8 ... what more could you want?

 HOW TO USE:

If you're unsure of how this work, all you need to do is -

1. Run each brush under lukewarm water.
2. Swirl the brush in cleanser.
3. Once you think it's almost clean, run the brush under lukewarm water again.
4. If it's not quite clean swirl it in the cleanser again.
5. Rinse and dry on a towel.

Don't forget to leave the brushes facing down when leaving them to dry, so the water from the brush hairs can drip onto a towel because if the glue that attaches the brush hairs to the handle get's wet, it can loosen the glue and break the brush.

For some reason the 'before' photos didn't come out how I wanted them too, so the 'before' photos below were taken of other brushes that I hadn't cleaned, just so you can get the idea of how well the cleaner works!!

15 Questions to ask a Beauty Blogger TAG!

Just before Christmas, I came across this TAG on a blog (which I can't for the life of me remember whose it was) and I really wanted to answer these questions on mine. I haven't actually be tagged to do this but I wanted to do it anyway haha!

1. How do you make your Lipstick / Lip Gloss last longer?

I find that blotting lipsticks with a tissue seems to help, lining the lips or also some lip primers do help. Also it an depend on the brand and quality of the product when it comes to the longevity of a lip product.

2. What online makeup store is your favourite?

Beauty Bay because they sell so many different brands and different types of products, especially some that aren't as easy to get in the UK, like Anastasia Beverley Hills.

3. Who is your favourite Youtuber at the moment?

I've been really enjoying Sarah Ashcroft's videos lately, particularly her travel vlogs or her weekly vlogs!!
(check out her channel here)

4.  What colour(s) go with your eyes?

To be honest, I either go for warm toned oranges or browns, or I go for cooler nude and brown shades to create a smokey eye!

5. Favourite drugstore mascara?

L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Feline Mascara, it's incredible.

6. What do you use to apply your Foundation?

I use the Morphe E6 brush to brush it onto my skin, then I bounce it in with a Beauty Blender. I find that this way you get decent coverage as the beauty blender doesn't soak up as much product. I also find that applying foundation with only a brush can either make it look streaky, or it just sits on the skin rather than soaks into the skin.

7. What is the difference between an eye primer and an eye base?

Tbh, I always thought they were the same thing but an eye base has a colour to it ... basically like the MAC Paint Pots!

8. Tinted Moisturizer, BB Cream or Foundation?

Foundation, as I need the coverage!!

9. How do you prep your face for makeup?

I do my skincare routine (check that out here)  and then use a hydrating primer.

10. What are some inexpensive makeup brushes?

Morphe, W7 or Makeup Revolution!

11. When did you start wearing makeup?

Well I've always been really into my makeup and wore blusher and lip gloss around the house as a bit of fun, but when I got to about 11 or 12, I then started to wear it outside the house but even then it was only like a tinted moisturiser, powder, mascara and bronzer.

12. Favourite Concealer?

Deffo the Urban Decay Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer.

13. Tricks to make your eyelashes longer?

Using fibres can help a lot, curling the lashes or using a good lengthening mascara!!

14. Favourite Drugstore lip product?

Either the NYX Matte Lip Cream in London or the Soap & Glory nude collection lipstick in Cinnamon Beige!

15. Cream or powder eyeshadow?

Probably powder as it blends easier, however I do sometimes like to give a pop of colour with a cream.
