Birchbox Unboxing || February 2019.

Hey there and welcome back to a new post. It feels like so long since I sat down to write a blog post but I’m so exited to get back into it. For today’s post I will be sharing the February Birchbox and the items that came in it this month. As usual I was very pleasantly surprised with most of the items in the box, so let’s get into it.

Let’s start off with my favourite product that came in this months box, because I don’t think I can save it until last. The first item that I got was the LOC Liquid Shimmer Shadow in the shade Moonlight. As far as I’m aware and can remember, I haven’t actually used one of these before. Whenever I’ve been using a shimmer shadow I’ve always either used a foiled one or used some fix+ to help give the product more pigment. But now I’ve got this I am super excited to have a play with it and try out some glam eye looks.

Next up is the Coco & Eve Like a Virgin Coconut & Fig Hair Masque, which I have used a couple of times now. I run this through my hair after washing it and I leave it in until I next wash it. It doesn’t leave a greasy feel on the hair this way, which I really like but it keeps it feeling really soft. The instructions do say to leave it in for 10 minutes and then wash it out but I don’t know how much this would help compared to the way I do it. It also makes your hairs smell just like coconuts and I love it ... it’s just so nice and fresh.

I’m actually so glad I received the next product which is the Luxie 205 tapered blending brush, because I was in desperate need of a new blending brush. This one is so soft a little firm, but also fluffy so this is going to be perfect to blend out my eye makeup. I hadn’t actually heard of this brand prior to receiving it in this months box, but I’m really happy with it. I really recommend it to you all if you’re looking for a new brush.

The Anatomicals ‘no one gets flirty with the dirty’ body cleanser also came in this months box and to be honest it is good, there’s just not too much to say about this one as it’s your standard body wash. The only thing I’m not too buzzed about, is that it doesn’t smell the best and I couldn’t even begin to explain the scent to you but it’s just not great.

Last but not least I got the Pure Grace Nude Rose Perfume and you do get a decent sized bottle which is 15 ml and this a perfect amount to properly test it over a short period of time to see if you actually like it. The scent is really nice and fresh, it’s not necessarily my kind of go to scent, but it could make a good change.
Also can we just talk about how much of a nice added extra these little post cards are!!

Thankyou so much for taking the time to read this post, I hope you enjoyed having a sneak peak into February's Birchbox and I will see you shortly with a new post.

Until Next Time,

My Holiday Pictures! Part 1 | Goa, India.

Hey there and welcome to a new post. A few months ago, I made a blog post sharing all of my holiday pictures from Torromolinos, Spain and you all seemed to really like it. So, I thought I would do the same from my recent trip to Goa, India. As I got lots of pictures in India, I thought I would share them between two posts and that one will be out not long after this so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for that one, if you would like to see those pictures too!

Valentines Makeup Look || Collab w/ BloggerRachael.

Welcome to today's blog post which is actually in collaboration with fellow blogger Rachael from www.bloggerrachael.blogspot.co.uk, and we will both be sharing our Valentines inspired makeup looks. I absolutely love trying out new looks and pink eye shadow isn't something that I do too often so I was actually really excited to try something new. So ... how did I create this look?

This is basically a full face of Revolution products and this shows just how much I love revolution as a brand because this wasn't even planned.

After moisturising I then used the Barry M Brightening Primer which has become my go-to quite quickly and I really like how smooth it makes my skin before applying my foundations. For foundation I decided to use the Laura Geller Filter First in the shade Buff and this foundation blends out really nicely, has good coverage, the colour match is almost perfect to my skin tone and it has a natural finish so there's a bit of a glow there. For Concealer I used the Revolution Conceal & Define in C3 and I'm sure this didn't come as a surprise to any of you because I love this one so much.

You can read my full review of this concealer here.

To set all of that in place, I baked my under eyes, round my nose and my chin with the Revolution Lace Baking Powder before bronzing up my face with the bronzer from the Revolution Chocolate Heart. I really like this bronzer because it gives you a sun kissed glow and that it much needed right now! I decided to contour my face a little bit using the bronzing colour in the Revolution Praline face palette. To highlight, I also used the Praline palette and I used a mixture of Fondant and Bon Bon, as well as taking the more blush shade called Ripple onto the apples of my cheeks.

For Brows I'm still using my Revolution Pomade in Granite. I feel like this works best for the bold brows that I like and think suit me best and also because I really need my brows done, I feel like this pomade can cover that up and not make it so obvious. I then set my brows in place with the Natural Collection Clear Brow Gel.

This eye look started out trying to be minimal and quite natural, so that I could add a bold lip ... but as usual I got a bit shadow happy and went for more of a pink smokey eye. The palette I used to achieve this look is the Revolution Red Velvet Palette and I thought that this would be the perfect palette to use for a valentines look!

Shadows used:

I first took Blend and Cupcake and blended them both through the crease. To deepen the crease, I then took a mix of Caramelize and Chocolate and places them on the outer third of the lip, before blending it out, only to the middle of the crease though. Next up, I took Beetroot and placed that on the front two thirds of the lid and sort of making a cut crease ... leaving the outer third still dark from the shadows before. I then took Infuse, which is more of a berry colour, and used it to blend the harsh line between the Pink and the Dark outer corner. On top of Beetroot, I placed Red Velvet to create a bit of a shimmer to the look. I then took a mixture of Bitter and Crumbs to further darken the outer third of the lid, before blending Patisserie just above the crease to make sure there's no harsh edges, but also to bring a bit more colour into it. To add a little bit of a highlight, I decided to take a mixture of Cream Cheese and Frosting and then place them on my inner corner and on my brow bone. Lastly, to finish off the eyes, I took a mixture of Infuse and Patisserie and blended them on the lower lash line to tie the whole look together.

To finish off the eyes, I decided to go for some winged liner to make it a bit bolder and the liner I used was the Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Eyeliner. I usually struggle quite a lot with winged eyeliner as I don't really do it much nowadays, but this one makes it super easy and glides on completely opaque. If you're looking for a good eyeliner for winged liner, then I really recommend this one to you.

For mascara I used my new fave which is the Eyeko Black Magic Mascara. I chose this one because it really extenuates your lashes, making them look long, curled and thicker than natural ... all without looking like spiders legs and I LOVE IT!

To complete this Valentines makeup look I decided to go for a creamy nude lip which is the Soph x Revolution in the shade Cake. I think this lipstick was the perfect colour to tie in the whole makeup look, without looking too much with the eyes. Because of the bold liner I didn't feel the need to apply some lashes, but if you decide to try out this makeup look then of course go add some lashes.

The Final Look!
*please excuse my eyebrows as they are in desperate need of being done!! hahah*

I actually planned for this look to be a light pink with a little shimmer to it ... however it very much turned into more of a sultry smokey eye with a little pop of pink and shimmer. I really hope you enjoyed this post and liked hearing about how I created this look. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post and I'll see you soon with another post! Also, thank you to Rachael for collabing with me!

2 Lip Obsessions: Valentines Edition || Collab w/ AlixKate.

Today's post is in collaboration with Alix from www.alixkate.co.uk, who is one of my very good blogger friends. We will both be sharing our favourite lip products at the moment, but valentines edition, so if you're going on a date this valentines, or out with your girl friends, then this post may help you to find a good lippy to finish off your makeup, or just a new lippy that you might like to try out!

My first lip obsession for valentines is the Laritzy Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in the shade Power. I actually received this in a Birchbox and I'm so glad I did because I hadn't heard of this brand before that but I turned out to really like the lipstick. Power is a really nice Burgundy, Dark Red colour and it'll compliment a lot of different looks, but I think a sultry black smokey eye would be the perfect eye look to wear it with. Although it is matte, it doesn't feel dehydrating or crack on the lips as it sits comfotably and it's really creamy ... it almost feels like you're not actually wearing anything on your lips. The swatch below was done with just one swipe of the product and as you can see, it's really pigmented. It hadn't quite dried down before I took the photo, but it takes around 60 seconds or so to completely dry matte. You can shop this liquid lipstick here.

Why are glosses so hard to swatch eh? Anyway ... If you’re looking for more of a natural lip colour then the NYX Butter Gloss in Vanilla Cream Pie could be a better bet. I really like this one as its a really nice creamy gloss but also has a slight tint of pink which is perfect for valentines. It’s also a really versatile gloss as it can team up with either a bold makeup look, whether that has a pop of pink in it or not, and it also will finish off any more low key neutral smokey eye look. As you can see from the swatch below that it’s a pigmented and opaque lip gloss, so a little goes a long way without needing to apply a load to actually get some colour to show from it. You can also use a lip liner underneath and it’ll still show through without being completely drowned out by the colour of the gloss. This gloss retails for just £5.50, which I think is a really good price as you get a decent amount for product, it’s a lovely buttery smooth gloss, it has a really nice sweet smell and they also have 34 different shades all as pigmented as each other. I cannot recommend this enough and for these reasons this is one of my current Lip obsessions.

So, they were my two lip obsessions for Valentines and I really hope you enjoyed reading all about them. Also, thankyou to Alix for collabing with me on this post ... make sure you all check out her blog and YouTube channel makeupwithalixkate.

January Favourites | 2019

I'm in two minds about whether January actually went by in a flash or whether it's dragged out. I've heard so many people talking about how this month feels like it gone on forever. I almost feel as if it's flown by, but then I think back to New Years and that feels like soo long ago. Anyways, throughout this month I've been using lots of new products as a lot of them either were kindly gifted to me at Christmas or I've bought with Christmas money. This means that there are lots of products to include in my January favourites and most of them I've not spoken about on my blog yet ... how exciting. Without me rambling anymore, let's get into actually talking about my favourites.

I did include some of these items in a recent haul post, so if you would like to take a peek at what beauty bits I bought this month then please click here.

So, my first favourite for this month has been the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in the Shade Ivory. I've only actually been using this for around two weeks, but I cannot put it down. I'm such a fan of Drugstore Foundations ... particularly Rimmel ones ... and this one didn't not disappoint. They're always such a good colour match for me, with the correct undertones, that it just works perfectly for an everyday foundation. This one also is really comfortable on the skin and it works particularly well for my combination skin, as it doesn't cling to dry patches and it also doesn't seem to look like it's gonna slide off my skin where it's oily ... gross, I know!!

Next up is the Urban Decay Naked Concealer in Fair Neutral and this used to be one of my favourite and my go-to concealers a year or so ago, but then I sort of neglected it when I found the Revolution Conceal & Define. However, recently I've been trying to use a range of products in my collection as I felt that a lot of it was just sitting there and not being used and now I can't put it down again. For me, it is a little bit pricey for an everyday concealer as it retails at £19.50, but I do think that it works really well, so if you can afford to spend a little more on this then I would highly recommend it.
I did actually write a review on this concealer, so if you would like to read more in detail about it then please click here.

This Revolution Baked Bronzer is another very new favourite for me, but I just couldn't wait until next month to share it with you. I actually got this in the I Heart Revolution Chocolate Heart Set and it was such a steal at just £15 for 2 eye shadows palettes, a face palette and this bronzer. I'm not really a fan of glowy bronzes, as I usually like them to be completely matte, however this one gives such a nice bronzey glow and would be particularly perfect for a holiday no makeup, makeup look!

My next favourite is this Look Fantastic Makeup Brush, I'm not exactly sure on the name of it as it came in their Beauty Advent Calendar, but I've really been liking using this brush for both my highlight and to set my under eyes if I'm not baking. I don't usually get on with fan brushes as I find they don't pick up much product, however this one is a little thicker than most of the fan brushes that I've tried and it picks up a good amount of product to give a popping highlight! I think that it would also be a really good brush to travel with as it's double sided, small and can be used for powder, bronzer and blush too!

Last but not least is the Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Berry Jelly Moisturiser from Boots and I actually forgot how much I used to really like this. I'm always switching up my skincare routine so that my skin doesn't get too used to the products I'm using, but since I've been breaking out more recently I've decided to take a step back from using lots of oils and hydrating products as I feel that this has been a contribution to my break outs. This Jelly Moisturiser works really well for me as it sinks into the skin almost immediately, it has tee tree and witch hazel in it which is supposed to be good for helping with spot prone skin and it doesn't sit on the skin or seem to block the pores ... which is what actually causes a spot to grow. If you have spot prone skin too and want something thats going to keep your skin hydrated without that oily or sticky feeling, then this one will be right up your street. Also it's only like £4 at Boots with a buy 1 get the second 1/2 price and you can shop here.

~SHOP THIS POST~

And there we have it, my January favourites! I really hope you enjoyed reading about the products that I have been loving throughout the first few weeks of this year. I am actually going on holiday tomorrow so I will be taking a break from blogging whilst I'm away and I will be back at it with a new post on the 11th January.

Until Next Time,
Luci ♡♡
