My In-Flight Carry On Travel Essentials!

Hey there and welcome back to my blog. A couple of weeks ago I uploaded a Beauty + Skincare Travel Essentials post, which was actually a collab and you can read that one here, and you all seemed to like that one, so I thought that I'd do a part 2. This post is going to be me sharing my In-Flight Carry On Travel Essentials and the bits and bobs that I couldn't live without when on a plane ... particularly long haul journeys.

My next essential is the This Works Stress Check Breathe In Roll On and this is a lavender scent which helps to relax you. This is perfect when you want to fall asleep on the plane but it can sometimes be a bit hard to get comfortable so this really does help. I especially find this handy when you apply a bit just before boarding the plane and then just as you're trying to get to sleep and you'll soon fall asleep. Also, it's just a little tube so perfect for having on you and keeping in your pocket for when you need it!!

Hair Ties. They're always really handy when you have long hair to just get it out of your face and these are not only a travel essentials, but an everyday essential as I have one on my wrist 24/7. Let me know if you do too!

The next thing I have got to have in my handbag is a book. I hardly read books, but when it comes to being on plane I just need something to pass the time. I've actually been reading the Notes on a Nervous Planet by Matt Haig and have really been enjoying it. I heard about this book on one of Emily Canham's Haul Videos on YouTube and it sounded exactly like a book that I would enjoy, so I just had to get it.

I always like to have some skincare on me in my hand luggage. I don't know if you find this too, but on flights my skin drys out so much and I sometimes break out, so I try to keep on top of it and prevent this from happening. Also, it takes up a bit of time to, so if you're on a long boring flight then you can wipe out 30 minutes to an hour depending on how precise you are and how much you want to do. I like to hair a sheet mask, under eye masks, a moisturiser, face wipes (particularly if I'm wearing any makeup) and also lip balm ... because my lips also dry out too and there's nothing worse than having dry lips but no Vaseline/ balm to fix it!

Obviously having a passport in your hand luggage kind of goes without saying, but I just wanted to share this passport holder with you as it's just soo cute. This one is from Carvela and I actually received it for Christmas ... I'm just a sucker for cute little accessories.

I don't know about you, but I always find that planes are soo cold and no matter how many layers I have on, I can just never warm up. So, I like to wear fluffy bed socks on the plane, not only for comfortable, but to also keep me warm. If you find planes cold, then I cannot recomend you taking fluffy socks on there with you. I also like to take a big scarf with me as well as it works as a blanket too!

Lastly, but probably one of the things that I couldn't not have with me (sounds really bad I know) and that it my phone. Phone's have so many different ways of taking up time, whether it's listening to music, a film you've downloaded, playing games or, if you have Wi-Fi, watching YouTube and going on Socials etc.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, I hope you enjoyed reading about my Carry On Travel Essentials. Make sure you check out my previous post and I'll see you soon with a new post!!
Until Next Time,

My Netflix Picks! || Collab w/ blushesandbutterflies.

Today's post is quite an exciting one for two reasons, one being that I'm doing something completely different to anything I have done on my blog before by sharing some of my favourite series and films on Netflix. And the other reason being that this post is actually in collaboration with Huda from www.blushesandbutterflies.com. Huda will also be sharing her Netflix picks over on her blog, so make sure you check out her posts after this one by clicking here. Let's jump right in then!

1. YOU

Okay, so let's start off with a very new favourite of mine and that is the series called YOU, which I'm sure you've all heard the hype about it even if you haven't seen it. I don't usually jump on the bandwagon and watch hyped about series or films as soon as they come out, but with this one I just thought I would give it a go ... and thank god I did. If you don't know, YOU is about a charming psychopath who starts to stalk an aspiring writer when he takes a liking to her after she comes into his book store. The series follows this guy on the journey through his growing relationship with the writer and also previous times in his life that have made him who he is today. I wont give away anything else, but if you haven't yet given it a watch then I really recommend it to you. I also read that there may be a series 2 of this, so hopefully they do.

2. 13 Reasons Why

Well, I did say that I don't usually jump on the band wagon with hyped series, but here I am again talking about another overly raved about show, however I did hold off for a long while before I started watching it. I actually binged watched this series, like many others, and managed to finish it in 2 days ... and I really enjoyed it. However, I didn't like series 2 as much and considering I was so excited for them to bring it out, I do think it was a bit of a let down. I know it's a bit of a contraversial show and people think that it glorifies suicide ... which I guess it does, I do still think that it is a good series and if you're into Thrillers kinda series, then I think you'll really like this. Also, season 3 is supposed to be coming out soon, so I hope its a good one!

3. Insatiable

Moving on to Insatiable and I actually heard about this series on Twitter when it was first released. I remember people having strong opinions about how it was basically portraying a message that being skinny is better than being bigger which I do understand but I did really enjoy the series. This show is full of surprises and lots of things happen that you just don’t see coming so I will leave it to you to check it out if you want to just so I don’t ruin it.

4. Stranger Things

Stranger Things was one of those series that I tried a few times but just couldn’t get into but on like the third time of watching it, I became hooked and ended up watching both series in a few days. I’m sure you’ve all seen this but I wouldn’t want to ruin it, but it’s about a boy who goes missing and his group of friends and his family have to find out where he is. Whilst he is missing, his friends meet a girl (Millie Bobby Browns character Eleven) with strange powers whose on the run and she can help to find him. I believe a new seasons is coming this year so I’m looking forward to watching that one!!

5. Gavin & Stacey

I'm sure this is an obvious one, especially if you know me because even after like 10 years, I still watch each series back to back. I'm sure you've all seen Gavin & Stacey, however, if you still haven't then I cannot recommend it enough to you. It's like the perfect British sitcom about two people that meet online and after ages of talking only, they finally meet in person and you follow their lives together.

6. Sierra Burgess is a Loser

This film is very much one where you really want the girl and the guy to get together and you're rooting for the girl but you know with her actions and the way she tries to get him that you shouldn't like her, but you do ... that will probably make sense to those who have watched it. If you liked To All The Boys I've Loved Before then you'll more than likely like this one as well and Noah Centineo is also in this so do I really need to say anything else? haha.

7. To all the Boys I've loved before

This one is probably one of my favourite chick flicks that I've seen in years and it's deffo up there with Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging and Mean Girls. I'm sure you've all watched this film but if you haven't and you love films that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, then this ones for you!

8. Sex Education

I was trying to hold off from watching Sex Education just because I was hearing mixed reviews about it. But as I was struggling to find a new series to watch one day, I decided to give it a go and I actually really liked it. Usually it takes me a while to actually get into series, but this on was actually really good from the start and I couldn't not keep watching the next episode and I ended up finishing it in like 2 days. If you haven't watched this yet, I do really recommend it!

9. Every Day

I actually only watched this film a week or so ago but it's a really good film. I saw an advert for this quite a while ago when it came out and I really wanted to see it, so I was happy that it popped up in my recommended and reminded me to do just that. Not to spoil it too much for you but it's about a person called A who wakes up everyday in someone else's body and ends up as someones boyfriend for the day, who he eventually falls for and they start seeing each other but it doesn't run too smoothly as he's always waking up in a different life. I thought it was such a cool concept for a film and I found that the way the story line unfolded was really good and kinda sad in some parts.

10. You Get Me

Last but not least is You Get Me and this is one of those films where you want there to be a happy ending for the couple because along the way they do run into some issues. Not to give too much about this film away but it’s about a couple that go through a bad patch and a new girl comes into it but ends up being a bit of a stalker.
So, there we have my netflix picks, I really hope you enjoyed reading this post and liked seeing something new on my blog. Also, thank you to Huda for collab-ing with me on this post and make sure to check out her blog afterwards.

Until Next Time,

New in for January | Beauty Haul.

Another month of me supposed to be on a spending ban hasn't exactly gone to plan, and I ended up spending quite a bit of money this month, probably even more than I would if I wasn't on a spending ban ... oops! But, I love hearing about the new bits in peoples makeup collections, so I thought I would share the few beauty bits that I purchased throughout this month. You will probably see all the holiday clothes that I also picked up in my holiday post (which will be coming when I get back) or over on my Instagram.

The first product that I picked up is the Revolution Supersize Conceal & Define Concealer in the shade C3. I absolutely love this concealer, it's my go-to for everyday use and more glam looks. I know some people will think that because this concealer is full coverage, that it could be too much for an everyday concealer, however a little does go a long was. I recommend using a damp beauty blender to take away any excess product and then baking to set the concealer in place and it'll stay looking flawless all day.

Is that a new makeup sponge I see? I then picked up the B. Blending Sponge from Superdrug. I haven't heard anything about this sponge, but as I was in need of a new one and didn't really fancy spending too much money on a Beauty Blender right now, I thought this one would do the job for a bit AND it was only £4.99.  Could this mean that I'm continuing my Makeup Sponge Review series? I guess you'll have to wait and see.

I decided to pick up the Barry M Brightening Primer because a few months ago I did try out the Green primer from this range (not sure the name of that one tho) and I really liked that one. But this time I'm more in need of a brightening primer and one thats going to fill in the pores, instead of covering redness and I hope I like this one just as much as I did with the other one. I'm always looking to try new primers, so if you have any recommendation then please let me know in the comments below!

I hardly buy high end foundations as I think drugstore ones can do such a good job without having to break the bank and this Rimmel one proves that. I've tried a few of the Rimmel foundations before and absolutely love every one of  them and I don't think I have tried this one out yet, so I thought I would pick it up and try it out. After a few uses I can tell you that this deffo lives up to expectations. It has really good coverage, the colour matches almost perfectly, it looks great all day and doesn't seem to be sticking to my dry patches!

I decided to pick up the Chocolate Heart by I Heart Revolution after seeing one of my friends talk about this in one of her YouTube videos (her channel is makeupwithalixkate) and after seeing that it was in the sale for JUST £15, how could I resist? In the gift set you receive a Chocolate Heart Shimmer Bronzer, a Red Velvet Eye Shadow Palette, the Peanut Butter Cup Eye Shadow Palette (which I'm extra excited to get playing with) and also the Praline Face Palette. I absolutely love Revolution's Products as they're so affordable yet have such amazing quality and are even better than a lot of the high end beauty brands out there ... no shade meant haha. The Chocolate Heart is still on sale for £20 and if you fancy, you can check that out by clicking here!

Thankyou so much for taking the time to read about my latest beauty buys and I'll see you soon for another post.

Until Next Time,

Birchbox Unboxing // January 2019.

It's that time again ... another month, another Birchbox opening. After such a pleasant surprise of how much I liked last months box, I was very much looking forward to receiving this months. If you would like to see December's opening then you can click here, but for now let's get into talking about these goodies.

The first item that I pulled out of the box is the Essence Moonlighter Cushion by CLE Cosmetics and I received the shade Copper Rose. This was said to 'give a lustrous shine equivalent to that of a moonlight glistening on water', which I definitely agree with as it creates such a nice glow to the skin that doesn't give a cakey or powdery look like other highlighters. I don't think I've ever used a cushion product but I think this one has converted me as I love the way it blends as well as the way it looks and lasts on the skin. I like the fact that you can have a natural looking glow, but also build it up to make it reaallly POP! This would normally retail at £28, which is a little more on the pricey side, but I think I'd happy spend that due to me really liking it ... however I do think there are many other products that can give similar results for a fraction of the price.

I  absolutely love getting mini mascaras in order to try out new ones every now and then ... and this one definitely did not disappoint. This one is the Max Lash Volumizer Mascara from the brand called DOUCCE and the full size tube of this retails at £17. The wand on this is quite thick and has lots of bristles in order to reach each and every lash. I'm really looking forward to using this mascara as it looks and, from the way it's described, sounds right up my street. You can shop this mascara here.

One product that I was particularly happy to receive was the Coco & Coconut Superfood Reviving and Exfoliating Cleansing Bar from Dr Botanicals. I'm actually really looking forward to trying this out because it smells incredible and from the reviews and comments online, I can see that this will be really moisturising on the skin. If I like using this I'm sure you'll all hear my thoughts about it in future post.

Next up, is the Philip Kingsley Flaky Itchy Scalp Shampoo and this is actually from a brand that I hadn't heard of prior to getting it in the box. I think thats the beauty of a subscription service like this because you can try new products and brands that you probably wouldn't have done without it. This was a really handy thing to get as we always need shampoo and having one thats particularly good for dandruff helps me as during the winter my skin can get quite dry so this will deffo come in handy sooner or later.

I then got a facial scrubber, another handy thing to have,  and I think the name of the brand this is from is Afterspa ... again a brand that I haven't heard of before, but I'm looking forward to adding this to my skincare routine. I find a lot of scrubbers can be too harsh on the facial skin, but this one should be much less harsh due to the fact that this one is specifically for use on the face.

From what I can tell from both December and January's box, is that they always send a little extra something that isn't necessarily a product and this month it was some hair bobbles. These always come in handy and they're super cute with the little pom pom on the end ... which actually matches with the theme (I think that's the right word for it) of the box with 'Shake your Pom Poms'.

And so, they were all of the bits and bobs that were in the January Birchbox and I have to say that again, I am very impressed and pleased with the products I received. I can't wait to see what surprises the next months box has in store. Thank you so much for reading this post and I will see you in a few days for a new one!!

Summer Holiday Shopping During Winter Season | My Picks!

I absolutely love a good shopping spree, but I sometimes find it super tricky to find summer holiday clothes around this time of the year, because each store is full of cute jackets, knitwear and knee high boots ... but how is this gonna be suitable for the beach or by the pool? Well it's not is it? So, I thought I would share with you all some of my favourite beach holiday friendly outfits and bits & pieces that I will be taking away with me in a few weeks time. So that if you're in the same position and don't know where to look for your beach dresses and bikinis, then I hope this post will help you out!! One bonus, is a lot of the holiday shop items are usually in the sale this time of the year.

My Beauty + Skincare Travel Essentials! || Collab w/ Little World of Rachel.

Today's post is an exciting one because it will be in collaboration with Rachel from littleworldofrachel.com, and Rachel will be sharing her Skincare Routine. Make sure you check out Rachel's post after and you can do that by clicking here, or if you've come over from Rachel's blog, then hello welcome, my name is Luci and I hope you enjoy reading my posts!

A face mask for me is a must have, I’ve always got to have one within arms reach whether I’m abroad or at home, because when your skin needs a new lease of life, they save the day. This one is the Neutrogena Hydra Boost Sheet Mask and I would usually have this in my carry-on and another one for once I’ve arrived at the place I’m staying, to use throughout my time there. This is because both the sun or being on a plane can dry out the skin and even cause break outs (more so on planes) so it’s always handy to have one on me!

Also from the Neutrogena Hydra Boost range, I also like to have the body lotion and the eye cream, that are both really light weight and hydrating. I’m really fussy with moisturisers because I don’t like them to feel greasy on the skin or sit on the skin but this one sinks into the skin within a few minutes and it feels smooth and hydrated.

I’m sure you all knew this one was coming ... it’s the Mario Badescu Aloe Facial Spray and I have talked about this so much on my blog, but I’m still just as obsessed with it. It’s such a versatile product as it can be used under makeup, as a setting spray, before moisturiser or even just to re-hydrate the skin throughout the day ... which is perfect for days at the beach or by the pool!!

To be honest, I don’t really wear much makeup when I’m away, but if I do I like something lightweight and to give me a bit of a glow and this No7 Bronzing Highlighter stick does exactly that. I’ll usually use this under a CC Cream or tinted moisturiser but even on its own it looks just as good.

Every night to conclude my skincare routine, I also put on a Facial Oil and these are incredibly hydrating and smoothing. I like using these because they work their magic overnight and you wake up with re hydrated and rejuvenated skin and all you have to do it sleep! I've recently been using the Emma Hardie Brilliance Facial Oil and I've really been liking using it. It's also a mini pot so it's perfect for travelling with. I also use the No7 Youthful Facial Oil too and that one works just as well!

If you've read my blog posts before, you may have seen me talk about the OGX Weightless Hydration Coconut Water Oil, which is a spray used for the hair and it helps to hydrate and revamp the hair and make it look sleek. I use this on towel dried hair almost as if it was a detangling spray to help brush my hair out and prevent breakage. I also notice that the sun drys out my hair like nothing else and this really helps to keep on top of it whilst I'm away and then I usually do a hair mask or go the hair dressers when I get home.

My last beauty travel essential is the Dove Shower Mousse. If you've seen my 'Body Skincare for those who CBA' post, you will have seen me talk about one of these in the past and I still love using them. This is such a versatile product because it can be used as a Shower Gel and as a shaving mousse so it's perfect for travelling as it's a 2 in 1 and you'll have more space in your wash bag. It's also got added Argan Oil in it, which helps to moisturise the skin in the shower, so you can get out with silky smooth legs.

And they were my Beauty and Skincare Travel Essentials thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post and also thank you to Rachel for collabing with me on this post!! Don't forget to check out my last post if you haven't already read it and I'll see you with a new post soon.

December Favourites! | 2018

Welcome to my December Favourites post and my GOD am I excited to share these products with you! Sorry this post is a little later than I expected to have it up by, but better late than never, right?! This past month I tried out so many new products that came in my Look Fantastic Beauty Advent Calendar and my December Birchbox, so there will be quite a few to talk about today. Let's jump right in then!

My first favourite this month is the HD Brows Contour and Colour Pro Palette, which actually came in the first day of my Look Fantastic Advent Calendar ... and you can bet that I haven't been able to put it down since. I don't believe you can actually buy this palette on it's own, I could be wrong but I can't find it on their website. It has three powder foundation pans, one bronzer, one highlight and on blush. I've got to say the powder foundation shades aren't ranged very well, but tbh with 3 pans, how wide would you expect them to be? I use the middle shade which is in the colour Fawn. The Bronzer shade does look a little shimmery, which I'm not a fan of, but when applied it's very much matte and it gives you such a sun-kissed glow and I am in much need of this right now. The highlight is quite pink toned and I can see this being a very good shimmery blush for the Spring / Summer time and as you may know I absolutely love glowy/ highlight blush! I haven't actually tried the blusher yet as it looks a little bright for me, but I'm sure when the weather starts to get warmer that I will try this out. Overall,  I think this palette is really good quality and works soo well, who needs the ABH one eh?

Next up is the Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick in Celebrity Skin. I used to have this a few years ago, but just never got round to purchasing another one and I forgot just how much I love it. This is a matte liquid lipstick in a dark-ish nude shade and it works so well with my skin tone as it looks quite natural and not too much. It also has a Root Beer Float scent to it and it smells absolutely incredible. The formula of Jeffree's liquid lipstick are deffo the best that I've tried, they're so lightweight, not drying, they don't crack or make the lips look cakey. As well as all of this they last really well on the lips and they're vegan friendly as well ... and all that for £16, you just can't go wrong! I am so glad to have this back in my collection.

I first tried the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream early - mid last year and it worked so well on my skin, and I've really been loving using it again this past month or so. I love how this is usable on both the face and the body, so would be perfect for travelling with. Although it's quite thick for a moisturiser, it soaks into the skin quickly and doesn't leave it feeling greasy. This moisturizer has a mix of Shea Butter, Eucalyptus, Oatmeal and Ceramides, which all work really well for the skin. For example, Eucalyptus helps to heal sars from Acne and Eczema and it's an anti-inflammatory ... so this cream works particularly well for those with dehydrated, blotchy skin with scars or blemishes.   You do get a fair amount of product in the tube and it retails at £10, which I'm not mad about considering the way it performs!!
This month I fiiinallyy was able to try out the Mane n' Tail Shampoo and Conditioner which has been on my list of products to try for such a long time, after all the hype and good things I have heard about it on Blog and Youtube videos. Because I use quite a lot of heat on my hair and have previously coloured my hair quite a bit, my hair was absolutely paying for it, so I needed something to give it a new lease of life. Although hair masks and other treatments did help, I didn't find that my hair was feeling much better ... until I tried out these ones. Within a few washes my hair felt and looked a whole lot shinier, healthier, less frizzy and also didn't come out as much when brushing. So I would say these deffo did the job and I cannot recommend this to you guys enough, especially if your hair could do with a bit of TLC. Soo ... liner has crept it's way back into my makeup bag after years of hardly wearing it and it's all thanks to the Doucce Fierce & Fine Graphic Pen which, hense the name, has a felt tip pen applicator and this makes it super easy to apply.

Moving on to the eye products that I have been loving this month and the first one is the Eyeko Black Magic Mascara. Again ... another product that has been on my wishlist for as long as I can remember and thank god that it lived up to my expectations. I usually stick to the same handful of mascaras that I have used for god knows how many years, without branching out and trying out new ones but after reading that it lengthens, lifts and curls, has shea butter in it to volumise, doesn't smudge or crumble ... literally everything you could ever wish for in a mascara. I love how long and thick this makes my lashes look, it lasts all day and still looks just as great at 8 in the morning as it does at 8 in the evening, and it doesn't give that spidery, clumpy look that some mascaras do ... as you can tell I'm utterly obsessed haha.

I had a bit of a break from using the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer as I wasn't really loving it too much, due to it being quite thick and cakey, as well as clinging to dry patches, however I've started to warm to it a little more recently. I find that using the tiniest bit goes a long way and if blended with a damp beauty blender it can look really nice. Obviously, for any concealer, if it's set correctly it can make it look a whole lot better and not crease, to make sure it stays in place all day.

The Laura Geller Filter First Foundation has quickly become part of my everyday makeup routine and I really love the way it makes my skin look. I have the shade Buff, which matches my skin almost perfectly, it smooths and covers all my blemishes and gift a natural glowy to the skin. This foundation stays in place all day and looks just as good when first put on, as it does at the end of the day. They have 11 shades in this foundation, so it's not too much of a wide shade range but I reckon that if you can find your shade, that it will match almost perfectly.

After running out of my daily facial cleanser, my LF Advent Calendar same through with the Omoroviza Budapest Moor Cream Cleanser and this has become my everyday face wash. It's almost like a clay mask, but you wash your face with it instead. I haven't been using it long, but I have noticed how much it is toning down any redness, any scarring and blemishes I may have, as well as getting rid of any dry patches I have.

Now, last but not least, it has to be one of my favourite products that I have tried in such a long time and it's the Illamasqua Beyond Powder Highlighter in Deity. This powder is so smooth and glides on the skin to blend out really well. It almost sinks into the skin and doesn't give that powdery look, just a nice glow. It isn't too much so you can go for more of a natural look, however it's really buildable so if you want a highlight that POPS, then either way this highlight will be for you. Being from Illamasqua it is going to be a little pricey and it retails at £34 (currently on sale here)

My Blog Goals for 2019!

And HELLO 2019. It's a new year, new month and new week, so what better way to start it off, than with a fresh set of goals to smash this year?!

1. Only upload content that I'm 100% happy with and proud of.

Now, don't get me wrong, I do put all my effort into each and every post but sometimes once a post is published, I do see that I could have done a little better. Sometimes I've found myself rushing a post and stressing myself out just to get it up in time to fit my schedule. But in the new year I want to keep up with posts so they're all done and ready to go without needing to rush to get it up. I sometimes forget that it's MY blog and that I can do as I please with it ... i.e. upload when I have a post is ready, talk about what I want, etc.

2. Upload more often.

Before Blogmas, I was uploading twice a week, with the occasional extra upload, but this year I want to make a conscious effort to upload at least 3 times a week. I think this is definitely doable if I manage my time well and plan well in advance.

3. Branch out of Beauty a bit more.

Throughout 2018, I did try to upload more of a variety of content because beauty isn't my only passion and I do feel as though I did this, but this is still very much a Beauty Blog, however you can expect a whole lot more Lifestyle, Fashion and Travel content this year!

4. Pitch more often.

When it comes to pitching to brands, I'm not a very good blogger. I have only pitched once and that actually went really well and I was able to work with such an incredible company. I'd love to work with more brands this year, especially those smaller or new ones that deserve to get their names out there!

5. Improve my Photos / Flat Lays.

I would really like to improve my blog photos this year, particularly my flat lays by adding some props and extras to jazz it up a bit. I feel as though my blog pictures are kind of samey and could do with spicing up a bit ... even if it's just better lighting at times!

6. Mix with more Bloggers.

By this one, I mean collabing with others, going to blog events and meeting / hanging out with other like minded people. When I've met bloggers in the past, I feel that it's so nice and refreshing to talk to someone doing the same thing as you, as well as being quite inspiring to give and also receive some good advice from them!

Thankyou so much for taking the time to read this post, I hope you enjoyed it. I'd love to hear about your goals for this year in the comments below!!
