Let's Talk: Goals | Do We Need Them?!

For today’s post I wanted to talk about goals ... body goals ... life goals ... career goals ... any goals you may have. As a new year is approaching you may want to set yourselves a goal with something you want to achieve by this time next month, at the end of the year or at some point in your life. Or if you haven't, is there a reason behind this or are you just unsure of where or what may be next for you? Have you set yourself new goals? Do you stick to them? Do we actually need them? I have SO many questions which in fact, I should be asking myself!

Just a quick little disclaimer: This post was a little bit spur of the moment, as I wanted to get some things off of my chest, so it may be a little jumbled, but I hope you do enjoy it anyway!!

Goals can be hard to set for yourself as you don’t want to set them too high that you lack motivation because they seem to far out of reach but at the same time you don’t want to set them too low that you’re holding yourself back from what you can achieve.

Rather than just saying to yourself 'I want to do THIS' or 'I want to get HERE', whatever it may be,  my advice would be to set lots of little goals on the way to your ultimate one, otherwise you may feel like you aren't making any progress, when actually slowly but surely you are, and this could in turn make you lack motivation. Whereas, if you're achieving lots of little goals along the way, it'll will become more apparent to you on the things you are achieving and have already achieved!

I saw a quote not long ago ... I can't remember it word for word, but it basically said that we should remember that you have things now that  you used to dream of. Whether that's a job, a car, a new house or something else and this is proof that you have made progress and achieved something you once wanted to and if you celebrate the small victories in life .... eventually you'll realize they were all part of something much bigger.

I'm always setting myself goals, but I don't feel like I tend to take them seriously enough until I look back and see that I've actually achieved things or am doing things now that I once hoped I would. Over the time that I've had my blog, I've posted a number of different goals posts including my blog goals, a few bucket lists and lots more personal posts. However this got my thinking, why are we worrying and fretting about the things we haven't yet done or achieved, rather than celebrating and being proud of the things that we have.

I think that our generation can constantly feel like they're not doing enough in order to do their best in life, maybe because they've had one lazy day, or have had a day away from doing their college/ uni work, blog work (in my case) or just need to take time for themselves. I don't know about you, but I constantly feel the need to be doing something and if I'm watching TV, or shopping or doing something that isn't ticking off my to-do list, then I feel guilty and stress myself out about it.

Cosy Christmas Eve Essentials | 12 Days of Christmas!

Hey there! I can’t believe it’s the last post of my 12 Days of Christmas series ... it’s gone so fast. I’ve really enjoyed uploading more often and I hope to be uploading more often into the new year. Just before I start today’s post, I wanted to say thankyou to you all for the support and for reading my posts, not only throughout Blogmas but each and every time I upload.

For today’s post, I thought I would share my essentials for a cosy night in, particularly for a festive and relaxing Christmas Eve in. I hope you enjoy and let’s get right into it.

Let’s start with a relaxing bath and before I jump in, I like to light a cosy, winter, christmas scented candle and the Gingerbread one from Yankee Candle is exactly that!! My top Bath time essential HAS to be a Bath Bomb and this one is super cute as it looks like a cupcake and smells incredible. This Bath Bomb is from a Cupcake Set from Bomb Cosmetics and it’s really moisturising on the skin, unlike some that can be really drying.

Hair masks are a must for nights like this because it can work it’s magic whilst you’re n the bath and it’s no extra effort ... obviously only do this step if you’re washing you’re hair this day. I’ve been using the Garnier Coconut Oil and Cocoa Butter Hair Mask and although it’s cheap compared to some, it works a treat and makes you’re hair smell great afterwards too!

Whilst the hair mask is doing it's thaaang, it's the perfect time to slap on a face mask too. The one I have been using recently is the Glam Glow Gravity Mud, which I actually got in my Look Fantastic Beauty Advent this year. I've only used this a couple of times, but I have really been able to feel and see the benefits in my skin since the first use. It's a peel off mask so takes away any impurities including dry skin, black heads etc. As well this it's supposed to firm the skin and uses witch hazel which fights acne and reduces irritation in the skin. I cannot recommend this one enough.

I'm pretty sure that I've spoken about this body scrub before on my blog, but it's easily one of my favourite bath / shower products to use. This is the Scrub Love Coconut Affair Coffee Scrub and it smells incredible, makes your skin super soft ... the only thing is that it makes quite a mess. This is particularly good to use before tanning as not only does it scrub away any dry patches, but the coconut oil in it adds that extra bit of moisture into the skin to re-hydrate it and avoid a patchy disaster.

Next up is my fave part ... painting my nails. There's no better feeling than freshly washed hair, shaved legs and then freshly painted nails. I picked this really cute Essie Christmassy nail polish set a couple of weeks ago and they're just the perfect colours for this time of the year. The two colours I have been using are Buy me a Cameo and Chocolate Cakes. I actually spoke about these polishes in 'My WinterNail Polish Picks' post which you can take a read of here! Once my nails are all dry, I then throw on some fluffy socks which are just the coziest things you can wear this time of year. These white ones are from New Look and they're the softest ones I've found and I believe they were only a few pounds.

After we're all settled down on the sofa in a comfy set of PJ's, it's then time to put a Christmas film on and I'd usually settle down with my family to have a takeaway whilst the films on. My top pick for a Christmas movie is always ELF, it just never gets old and it's an absolute Christmas classic. But, what else do you need when watching a film? ... SNACKS. These Malteser truffles haven't been out of arms reach from me these past few weeks and I absolutely love them. Got to admit, they're a little pricey ... but deffo worth it!

My Top 5 Christmas Films: click here!

Another way to get into the Christmas spirit and to chill, is being in front of the telly with some Christmas Movies on Netflix ... because to be honest, what's a cosy night in without it? Or any evening for that matter haha!

My Festive Netflix Faves:

  • Gavin & Stacey; Christmas Special
  • Love Actually
  • Nativity 1 & 2
  • The Princess Switch
  • The Holiday
  • Love the Coopers
  • The Holiday Calendar
Until Next Time,

Birchbox Unboxing // December 2018 | 12 Days of Christmas!

Hi there and welcome back to my blog. Today I will be unboxing the Birchbox December box. I used to subscribe to Roccabox and Glossybox so I figured I would try this one out and share what was in it with you all.

The first item that I received in this months box was this Bubble Face Mask from K Beauty. I have been wanting to try one of these out for such a long time and I’m looking forward to trying it out. Sticking with the masks, but this time for the hair, the next thing that came in the box is the Percy & Reed Totally TLC Hydrating Hair Mask. After going quite a while without dyeing or using heat on my hair, I’ve recently started to do just that again and my hair is paying for it. I’m looking forward to using this and to see if it’ll be able to revive my hair and make it look shiny and healthy again!

Next up, is the Balance Me Flash Cleanse Micellar Water which I hadn’t actually heard of until receiving it this month. It’s described as a gentle makeup remover that isn’t damaging to the skin and the ingredients, which include chamomile, neroli, mandarin etc. All work together to fight any signs of ageing and support skin cell regeneration. This sounds like it’s going to be right up my street and I’m looking forward to using it. This actually came at the right time because I’m running out of the Garnier Micellar water so I’m hoping it’ll work just as well, if not better!!

I’ve been wanting to try products from Rituals for such a long time now and I’m buzzing to try this out. This is the Ritual of Ayurveda Balancing Body Cream and this is said to re-balance the energies in your skin by using Indian Rose and Himalayan Honey which makes it smell super sweet and it’s aroma is said to have soothing properties. I’ve been in desperate need of a new body lotion and this one sounds perfect!!

A couple of the items I received are little added extras like a comb ... which to be honest will always come in handy ... and some chocolates from Hotel Chocolat, which are absolutely incredible and you can bet that they were eaten straight after I got the right picture.

I was clearly saving the best product until last here ... so the last item I received this month is a Laritzy Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in the shade Power which is quite a dark red. This is such a go-to autumn / winter red lip and I cannot wait to try it out soon. I did swatch this and I could see straightaway just how pigmented it was and how it’s really creamy, so it doesn’t look like it’s going to be drying on the lips.

Thankyou so much for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed seeing what goodies were inside this months Birchbox. I will be doing an unboxing of next months box too, so keep your eyes peeled, if you would like to see that in the new year.
Until Next Time,
Luci ♡♡

My Holy Grail Products Of 2018 // Collab with AlixKate | 12 Days of Christmas!

Hello there and welcome to post number 10 of my 12 Days of Christmas series, which means we're coming to an end of the Christmas posts this year. BUT fear not because we have a very exciting post today as it's a collab with one of my very good Blogger friends, Alix from www.alixkate.co.uk. Be sure to check out her post after reading this one, especially as she is taking part in  Blogmas this year and there are lots of Christmassy posts over there for you to read.

Alix and I have both decided to collab on this post to share with you our holy grail products of 2018 ... so think of it as one huge favourites post. I have tried lots of new products this year, which I haven't stopped reaching for, for the entirety of 2018 ... so grab a cuppa, sit back and take a peek at my favourite beauty products of this year. I hope you enjoy!

As you can see Revolution products have played a major part in being my fave products this year, so I thought we would start off with them. Revolution have had two incredible collaborations this year with YouTubers sophdoesnails and Imogenation and they absolutely killed it. I'm going to keep this bit short and sweet because I have written reviews on both of these palettes. The quality of both of these palettes are absolutely incredible, the eyeshadows are so smooth, easy to blend and really pigmented and for just £10 each, it's such a bargain and well worth it!

Imogenation Palette Review: >>click here<<

My next faves, also from Revolution are the Conceal & Define Foundation and Concealer and these were probably one of the most hyped about products of the year, especially at the time of their release. The concealer was released in last December or in January (I think) and the foundation was released in August or September. I particularly love how big their shade range is and for a lot of drugstore foundations, this isn't such a regular things. Again, I've written a full review on both of these which will be linked below.

The ByKady Liquid Lipstick in the shade Unbutton, was on my wishlist for such a long time until I finally caved and purchased it. I've been put off buying celebrity products in the past as they can be quite over hyped and over priced for what they are, because of the name on it ... However this one is totally the opposite of that. The packaging is such good quality, the lipstick it's self is really pigmented and creamy, without being drying and cracking. If you're looking for a new liquid lip, or even just a makeup brand in general, to try then I cannot recommend ByKady.com enough. You can read my full review on this Liquid Lip here!

I have loved using the Benefit Hoola Lite as it's just the right colour for me to bronze / contour, without it being too dark and orange on me. When I tried the original Hoola Bronzer, I didn't get the hype about it because it does go quite patchy and muddy looking, however Hoola Lite seems to blend a whole lot easier and looks much better on me. I was a little put off by the price at first because it's £25.50, however, considering the colour, the pigmentation and the longevity of it, I do think that it's worth every penny and I couldn't recommend it enough, especially to my very pale gals out there.

Now, let's talk Brows ... I'm sure you've all seen me talk about the Brow Tidy from Natural Collection a lot this year, but I'm still not over just how good it is and how I just can't not use it now. This is a clear pencil, I think it's wax, and it sets your brows in place before you put your products on and then you can set it again with a brow gel after. I've  heard that it's such a good dupe for the Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Primer, not that I've tried it but I can see it doing the job just as well. The only downside to this product is that it goes down VERY quickly, but as it's only £2.49 so I can't really complain.

Next up, is the MAC Fluidline Gelcreme in Deep Dark Brunette. I'm pretty sure that only  up until recently, that this was the only brow product that I've been using throughout this whole year and rightly so because it's just ~SO~ good. It's the perfect colour for my brows and has a slightly warmer tone to it than my new Revolution Graphite one does, which I don't usually like but it just looks less harsh on my skin. In the last week or so, I have been mixing this MAC one with the Revolution on that I've recently bought and together they've made the perfect colour that matches my hair after it's been dyed. It's so easy to blend and brush through the brows and you can create either natural or more harsh, bold brows.

The L'Oreal Infallible Unlimited Mascara has been my go-to mascara for many months now and I just can't stop reaching for it. It has such a nice sloped brush which helps to reach each and every lash, as well as making the lashes look longer the further away from the inner corner it gets (if that makes any sense haha!). Both the brush and the wand are so flexible, which again helps with reaching each lash and making them as long and curled as possible. You can also bend the lid to two different angles and it's said to lengthen, define, volumise and also separate the lashes.

Now, let's move on to skincare ... I first tried the Mario Badescu Facial Spray this time last year, where I had the Rose Water one and absolutely love it. Throughout the year I've also used both the Lavender one and the Aloe & Green Tea one and they did not disappoint. I really like how this refreshes the skin and works almost as like a primer for your skincare and is perfect to use both before and after makeup. I particularly liked using this when I was on holiday as it can cool you down and also refresh your skin if it's feeling dry in the sun.

Last, but not least is the No7 Youthful Facial Oil. I was never really into using facial oils until the mid part of this year and now I couldn't be without one. To be honest, I think they all work the same, this is just the one that I've been using for the past couple of months. I use this when I do my skincare routine in both the morning and evening  ... and it even works really well under makeup. My makeup always seems to look better after it's been on a few hours, however when I use a facial oil, I don't get that powdery look and it gives more of a natural finish to my makeup. If you suffer from dry skin and don't like to get the powdery, flaky dry patches (I know, yuck!) when you use makeup, using an oil takes that look away.

Those were my ultimate favourite products of 2018 and I really hope you liked reading all about them. This post was a little longer than my usual ones, so I hope you liked that it was! Don't forget to check out Alix's Blog and I'll see you soon!!

My Highlights Of 2018 | 12 Days of Christmas!

Hey there! I wasn't quite sure how to start to round up my blog for 2018 and I wanted to do something a little bit different that I haven't done before, so I thought sharing some of my highlights of my year would be a good idea. My highlights aren't in any particular order, just in a list and  I hope you enjoy.

1. Finished College.

I don't really talk about my life too much on my blog, but I finished college this year with a Merit in my Makeup Artist course and I was over the moon with this. Not gonna lie I did hope I was going to get a Distinction but I'm still happy and I can't wait to see what the future holds for me in my makeup career.

2. Buying my First Car.

One thing I wanted to do more than anything this year was buy my first car. I've had my license for nearly 2 years now and in September this year, I was finally able to purchase my first car. It's a little Corsa and I'm so happy to now have a car, which I was able to buy myself.

3. Being more Active.

At the beginning of this year I set myself a goal to be more active ... well let's be honest here, I set myself this goal every year but this year I actually stuck to it. One of my friends and I went for weekly walks in the countryside for quite a few months and I felt so much better with in myself both physically and on the inside.

4. Met a Blogger.

Since I started blogging I wanted to meet bloggers and be able to talk to others that are doing the same thing as me and share advice and ideas ... and this year I was able to meet one of my very good blogger friends Alix, not only once but twice. It's so nice to be able to chat to someone I can relate to so much and also to have met such a lovely friend who I probably wouldn't have met if it wasn't for us both blogging.

5. Visited new places.

If you know me, you'll know that I absolutely love travelling, meeting new people, experiencing new cultures and visiting new places and this year I was able to do just that. I've been to Spain lots and lots of times, but we always seem to visit the same few places including Barcelona, the Balearic Islands and a few other places, however, this year we went to Torremolinos  and Benalmadena. I went with my family for a relaxing beach holiday and we did lots of things including visiting the Benalmadena Marina, going to a waterpark and lots more!  If you haven't already seen my Holiday Pictures post, you can click here.

6. Made new friends.

Since leaving school, I've always kept my group quite small because I just don't do drama. However, this year I have made lots of new friends and also got back in touch with old friends.

7. Booked a trip.

Back in April, I think, one of my friends and me booked a trip to Goa, India for February and we're going for 8 days. We've spent these past few months prepping for it including holiday shopping, sorting visas, vaccines and overall just planning the trip. I can't believe we're going in just over a month and you bet you're gonna see a good few posts on our holiday!!

8. Hitting 50,000 views.

Back in August my blog hit 50,000 page views and this honestly still blows my mind. I know it's not all about numbers, but this was a big milestone for my little blog and I'm ever so grateful for my readers. This was one of my highlights of this year as this time last year I was at 29,000 views and now that number has almost doubled in 365 days ... CRAZY!

9. Changed Jobs.

At the beginning of this year I had a part time job that I really didn't like and wasn't enjoying, so I made the decision to leave and find a new one. Back in April I got a job in a salon and I actually really enjoyed it, however, I knew it just wasn't for me and I was on really bad money, so again I wanted a change. In July I managed to get a full time job, which I wouldn't say I love but I much prefer it to where I was working previously.

10. Worked with more brands.

This year I was so lucky to be able to work with a couple of brands and collab with quite a few bloggers. I worked with Zaful and Ben & Anna UK, which I am so happy to have to worked with. I hope to be able to work with more brands in the new year.

Those were all of my highlights from this year and overall I'd say I've had a pretty good year and I'm so looking forward to see what 2019 has in store for me.

My Winter Nail Polish Picks | 12 Days of Christmas!

Hey there! This time last year I shared my winter nail polish picks and you all seemed to really like that post, so I thought I'd do the same this year as I have a few new faves. I also do get Acrylic Nails done so I will be sharing some of my fave colours that I've had recently and I tried to remember as many of the names of them as possible or at least pretty close match. I hope you enjoy!!

Quick disclaimer: Some of these nail polishes aren't your typical winter vampy and dark tones, but these are my personal faves at the moment.

So ... let's start off with one of my longest loving faves which is Strawberry Milkshake from Ciate, which is a pastel pink. I love this color because it's soo perfect for all different occasions and times of the year. I particularly like using this pink in the winter because it gives me them Spring / Summer vibes.

My next favourite polish is Black from Barry M. Now, I don't need to say much about this one because let's be honest, we all love black nails every now and then. Something so good for all occasions, stylish and good for someone who never wears any colour ... aka, me!

It's not winter or the festive season without a bit of glitz and shimmer, so I couldn't not include a couple in this post. Starting with a glitter polish, it' Celestial from Ciate and this is the perfect silver for some nail art or one for the ring finger. I love how smooth and not bumpy this one feels and it is very opaque ... but a couple of coats never hurt nobody. Sometimes I prefer more of a pearl finish and the Essie polish in Buy me a Cameo and this one just ~SCREAMS~ Christmas, to me and I loovee it!

Buy me a Cameo came in a duo set with Chocolate Cakes, which is a very dark brown and again is perfect for this time of year. Throughout the Autumn and Winter, dark, cosy and vampy colours come out to play and I am here for this one. I haven't used this too much yet, as it's new to my collection, but I cannot wait to get using it throughout the season!

Next up is the Studio London polish in 701, which is a pearlised (I don't even know if that's a word, but we'll go with it!) Red and to me this is such a Christmassy colour. I wish I had a picture of this on my nails to show just how pretty it is, but you're just going to have to take my word for it!

Last, but not least, is Sugar Daddy from Essie, which is a pinky colour but by no means as opaque and pigmented as it looks in the picture above. This is much more of a clear colour, or a colour you would use for a french manicure. However, if you build this up with 2/3 thin layers it does bring some colour out in it. Sometimes I like to put this one on when I don't have my acrylics on, but still want my nails to look presentable!!

Top: OPI Red
Left: OPI Malaga Wine
Right: OPI Passion
Bottom: A Nude Gel Colour and OPI An affair in Red Square
^(These nails looked so much better in person, I promise haha!)

And there we have my Winter Nail Polish Picks. Thankyou so much for taking the time to read this post and I hope you enjoyed hearing all about my favourite nail polishes for the season. If you haven't already, be sure to check out the first few posts of my 12 Days of Christmas and you can do this by clicking here!

I love sharing my monthly favourites every month and this month is no exception as I have come across a number of new, incredible products, along with trying some oldie but goldie products and I also ended up digging out some of my all time faves from my makeup kit, which have now crept back into my everyday makeup bag. So ... what products have I been loving this month?

My first favourite for this month is the Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream, which you would have seen me mention if you’ve read my Haul. I’ve been in need of a new eye cream for a while and as I suffer from very dry eye lids and under eyes, I thought that it would be a good idea to get one with Hyaluronic acid in it. Because, if you didn’t know, Hyaluronic acid is really good for a number of probably areas but particularly dry skin and anti-ageing. This cream retails at £15, for a 14g pot and I think considering how well this has been working for me and treating my dry skin, that I think it’s so worth it! I deffo recommend it.

Next up is the MAC Strobe Cream. I used to be completely obsessed with this primer back when I first started my blog, but after not using it for a while I started to use it again this month when I had run out of my Rimmel one. I love how hydrating this is as well as how glowy and healthy it makes my skin look. It has very quickly made it's way back into my everyday makeup routine and I cannot stop reaching for it. If you haven't tried this out, I really do recommend it ... it is a little pricey in comparison to drugstore primers, but I do think that it's really worth the money. However, if you don't want to splurge on this one then L'Oreal do a really good dupe which you can check out here!

The Bourjois Rouge Velvet ‘The Lipstick Bullet’ in Nohalicious is still very new to my makeup collection but it has been coming everywhere with me these past couple of weeks. It’s such a perfect brownie, nude and has quickly become my new ‘handbag lippy’. This lipstick is super creamy, it lasts on the lips for a good while as well ... I even dab it slightly with a tissue to make it a little more matte and this helps it to last longer on the lips too!

If you’re a long term reader of my blog then you’ll know how much of a lover I am of Natural Collection products and this translucent loose powder is no exception. I use this powder not only to bake my face, but also to set it and it works so well for both. It’s such a fine powder which sets my base really smoothly and doesn’t set into the fine lines which cause creases. If you haven’t tried this out yet then I urge you to do so, especially if you’re looking for a new face powder and for £2.49, you just can’t go wrong.

I hardly ever talk about hair care on my blog because I don’t really use many products or even do much to my hair tbh, BUT this month we’re trying something new. Recently, my hairs been needing a wash more frequently but because I’ve recently dyed my hair, I’ve been wanting to take more care of it which means not washing it as often and dry shampoo is perfect for this. As I have quite dark hair now, using normal dry shampoo just doesn’t work as it sit in my hair and creates white patches in my hair ... however, this one is specifically for brunette hair and doesn’t create patches of different colours in my hair. This also helps to cover my roots that are growing through which is a bonus. I love how voluminous this make my hair look and it smells great too!

My last favourite of this month is the Revolution Brow Pomade in the shade Graphite. I used to use quite warm toned brow products but I find that the cooler toned browns have been working best for me and this one is working great for me. It works so well for an ombré style brow, which if you don’t know is a bold arch and tail of the brow and more sparse and light on the front. This also helps it too look a little bit more natural and less harsh, which I used to do but I much prefer how this one is looking in me.

And they were my favourites for the month of November, thankyou so much for reading and I will see you in a couple of days for my next 12 Days of Christmas posts. You can also check out Posts 1 and 2 of this series here!
